I’m sure it will be argued, but I actually bought Kylos redemption moment.

and I’ve read multiple Han Force ghost things... I hope people still don’t think that’s what was happening there...

They would be the same people who still say “everyone died in the plane crash” on LOST

That is the main thing that sticks with me,....very well acted & a realistic redemption,.....Han was more like a vision to Kylo

Loved it

Judging from most people's responses it sounds like the overwhelming feeling was like having your older brother who bullies you beat up the school bully.

It's not ideal, but at least you don't have two people ganging up on you.

haha. That’s perfect.

When I first saw this, I thought Han's appearance to Kylo was from his mind, but could it perhaps have been a Force projection like Luke did on Krayt that ended up killing him, which would explain why Leia died? I've just been mulling over how Leia died...

When we cut to the planet where the DS2 remains are,....was there a reason why the Falcon crash/skidded down?.....cant remember

They mentioned a problem with the landing gear, which they repaired while Rey was at the Death Star.

I haven't seen it yet but I'm gorging myself on spoilers... and no one has said a word about why in the @#$ they're on horse monsters galloping across a star destroyer. Is the scene just so lost in the bizarre mish-mash of other stuff? Does it actually work somehow?

so far all the plot points I've read sound weird but I'm feeling more or less like "sure, why not". And someone previously mentioned that it watches like an old EU book, and that sort of gives the whole thing a context I can understand... but...

horses? on a star destroyer?

someone please explain, I'm apparently unable to wait until I see it to find out...

So, when they're planning the assault on the radio tower Finn says he has an idea about the ground team, but that plan fizzles when the radio signal is transferred to the star destroyer, leading to the ground assault team having to assault the star destroyer as the fighters flew cover.

Horse things on the SD was much less problematic to me than the reason they were there, which was that for some reason all the other SD’s were unable to fly straight up out of the atmosphere of the planet? I’m still a little unclear on why the SD’s (seemingly across the galaxy?) all seemed to just kinda crash at once. Implication was that people rising up everywhere to fight with ships did it, but if so, I would’ve liked to have SEEN that. As it was it felt like the moment in Phantom Menace where all the droids fall apart after the single control ship blows up.

Like most things, there’s a whooooole lot to pick apart and have issues with in this movie, if you want to. People running around on the SD was less of an issue as they were still in atmosphere.

Rey jumping to the falcon from a Star destroyer in thin atmosphere (so Fin was wearing a mask) turned out to be perfectly fine as well.

Lot of early nitpicking was pointless... but I saw a lot to replace!

I was going to avoid this thread cuz I thought it would be a hate fest, but after sleeping on it, I have been turning everything around in my head, cuz ... wow... A LOT of movie packed into, what... 30 minutes... ha. I have no idea that movie went by so fast.

But there is a lot of great stuff in there. Also some mediocre.... not much BAD.

I thought I saw John Williams too? Was I imagining that?

I watched it today, and for all it's problems, I walked out of the theatre having enjoyed it. Certain scenes were very emotional, including Ben calling Han 'Dad' and embracing him, as well as Chewie's reaction to learning that Leia had passed. Bringing Palpatine back is not inherently bad, but there was no build up to it whatsoever, and the way in which is was finally killed off was just laughable. It would have been cool to see the Final Order fleet put into action in the big end battle. Still, I'm happy they course corrected a lot of what I disliked about The Last Jedi, and liked ROS overall.

Not so much that Palpatine showing up from the dead after decades seemed exactly as it was; a last-moment, Why don't we just do..." thing, but the entire concept of his mass of followers didn't make any sense. Where'd they all come from? Where'd they build all those start destroyers and find crews for them, totally in secret? At least in the original movies, you knew it was a government building and manning all that, not something someone willed into existence.
That part just made no sense to me.
That was Wedge, right? With the line about “nice flying, Lando.” I thought that was a weird addition, especially considering what I thought I’d seen about the actor saying he wanted a role but didn’t get one? Would’ve been nice for there to have been something identifying him better, as one of the best pilots from the rebellion. He’s there for a half-second and then never seen again that I could tell.
Yeah, I was waiting for him as I'd read he was in the movie and had even looked up what he looks like today before I went to see it.
I'm glad I did, otherwise I wouldn't have known that was Wedge. He should have had a couple of scenes more than that! I kept hoping he'd show up at the end celebrations as well. It'd been great if we found that Wedge had led the "Dunkirk" style fleet at the end and had brought them all there. That would have made a lot of sense, in a spot where little did make any sense.

If they had this episode 9 ending planned at 7... they could have fed the Return of Palpatine as the Starkiller Base...

They could have had the First Order OPENLY working with Sith... and the resistance was hearing rumors that Snoke, Kylo and the Sith were trying to resurrect Palpatine (through Kylo) into a clone - RIGHT off the bat...

*Like in Indian Jones with Hitler looking for religious artifacts to help win the war...

So by the time we are in a giant Sith Temple... it wouldnt be so jarring.

The first sequences in this move were coming at such a rapid pace I was like STOP! SLOW DOWN!!!!

I remember feeling the same in John Wick 3... just right off the bat, craziness. I was thinking John Wick would be running and killing people with books for the whole 2 hours...

but then they relaxed and took some time to world build again.

Not this movie! They went in and there was almost NO chill time...

Which is how it had to be, to make up for the movie with inappropriate chilling at a casino mid-fight.

That actually sounds kind of cool! And when they succeeded in bringing him back that's when Kylo realizes the error of his ways and turns on the emperor, thus getting redeemed.

The only hint I caught was the FO Star Destroyer Captain saying "Jam their speeders!" as the Resistance ship lands on the SD. A crew member responds something like "they don't have speeders"... I've never heard of "jamming speeders", but it played like they used the 'horses' to avoid a defense against mechanical transport. ??? You're guess is as good as mine, as it was never explained. It stuck out at the time, because "jam their speeders!" sounded really dumb.

My main gripes, other than it becoming the "Rise of Palpatine" were that Force powers are now totally over the top... ripping ships in half? Healing wounds? Has healing ever showed up in the EU before this weeks Mandolorian episode? I guess Anakin can be proud that his grandson finally figured out how to raise the dead...

The other thing was finding ships abandoned in deserts or submerged in sea water for decades and firing them right up and taking off. The Mandalorian's ship got stripped to the frame in hours, and we're supposed to believe a ship in plain veiw in the desert for 30 years is intact and untouched? And Luke's X-wing fires right up? Never mind that one of the wings was used to make a door for his hut?

Overall, I thought it was an enjoyable movie. Though the plot was obviously at least partially contrived to fix the damage from TLJ, it brought things to a mostly satisfying conclusion.

On another note, our theater was only about 1/3 full. TFA and TLJ were packed... hopefully this sends a financial message...
