Exciting update! Here's the raw cast brass master.
This is an intermediate step.
It'll be used to make the silicone wax injection molds for the next step. Those waxes will then be put in investment for lost wax casting to make the steel version, which will be gold plated.

Saw the film again today. That chain pic up above looks about right... the links were definitely circular, with each one wider cross-wise than thick. Very reminiscent of the One Ring's chain, but in gold.

Well, here's the chain from LOTR, straight from Weta's shop:

Their chain has slightly oval-shaped links, the ones in TLJ were definitely circular.

Yeah, this is what I think the chain in TLJ looks like but with circular rings. Very thin circular profile of the rings but wider/taller walls, if that makes sense. Basically if you laid one of the rings flat on a table the circle would look thin, but when viewed from the sides it's relatively wide. Tall if it's flat on a table.
I also just received the TLJ art book and got a chance to get a better look at the dice and chain. The fact that it's artist's rendering means they could have easily used a different looking chain in the film. Hence the inconsistency between the screen grabs and the art book image.
