Star Wars: The Last Jedi (Pre-release)

It's a big slap to the OT fans to kill off all 3 though. And make no mistake. The majority of the money made is off the existing fan base. I'd also bet the farm the grand plan was not to have all three die.

Yep.

I can accept Han. grumpy harrison never really wanted to get into mo vies in the first place. I can accept Leia, sadly thanks to recent events.

but killing off all the big three is just plain bad.

I hope they don't kill off Luke. I hope this one features him as part of the adventure, not just as a trainer.

Then perhaps the third one is where Rey really rises to the lead.

Mark Hamill will not live forever, unless he does, in which case I have a ton of questions, but thinking logically...

They are going to have to write him out at some point... hopefully before his death. A Luke riding off into the sunset storyline won't ever work out. He has become a LEGEND in the galaxy, so as long as there is some evil force-wielding entity out there he would always be their target. The ONLY solution is to have him die on screen. I could see him going out like Yoda. I don't think he needs to be murdered on screen, but it would only make sense to have him die on screen. And by the end of 9, the big three will have to be Finn, Rey, and Poe, so they are going to have to figure something out if they plan on continuing after 9... which you better believe they are.

Well I remember seeing some press release that the Skywalker story episodes stops at 9. No Episode 10,11,12... SO After that everything is a spinoff movie Star Wars Story style.

I thought I'd seen something that showed they have plans up through 12? I don't think they'd introduce a new, young cast and only have them around for 3 films. The Skywalker story may end, but that shouldn't suggest that the saga is over.

Yeah KK had said that they were planning on concentrating on Spin-off films after 9,.....& there has always been production gaps between trilogies,.....if they return to the saga sequence for another trilogy they could jump forward 30 or more years & start again

English is not my native language, so I ask:

The Last Jedi could mean The Last Jedi left AND The Last Jedi that became so through training?
Thank you!

When Luke was the last Jedi,....he was the last Jedi,.....when he has trained Rey, then he & Rey are the last Jedi,.....the plural of Jedi is Jedi

i believe so, there is a scene in season 6 the secret missions, or deleted mission that series. yoda is being tested by the will spirits or what ever they are. and he is back on the jedi temple and qui gon is there, dooku, and they are all circled around the tree

I was just ranting on this on facebook.......

Okay so we had "Return of the Jedi" back thirty odd years ago,Luke was supposed to be the big shin dig who brings all into balance....then we get seven and everything went out the window which I can tolerate but now "The last Jedi"???? AGAIN! I can see a new tale with their kids/new cast but this basically saying six meant nothing and the old story ain't over yet.

Lazy writing is what it is me thinks.

when episode 7 came out and the interviews started, didnt they say the whole original cast would be dead by the end of episode 9?! i remember this because they were saying these new characters are going to take over their roles and leave it open for the stories to continue.

Star Wars without the Jedi is just "generic space stuff". Might as well be Star Trek in my opinion. Obviously I like Star Wars more, never was a trek fan. But what Im saying is the Jedi/SIth/Force is what makes it interesting. Any clown can use a blaster. Well, except Greedo in the special edition. :lol

Agreed. I get people wanting to see new stuff in the same universe but – at the end of the day – if you remove the hallmarks that make it Star Wars, it's just a generic science-fiction universe. One reason, for example, that I was never all that excited about seeing side stories about the "common folk" in that galaxy. Take away the big picture elements in archetypes it make it Star Wars, and you might as well just be watching any science fiction program. And I, personally, don't watch just each and every science-fiction program out there because I love anything and everything in the genre ( but I know people do exactly that).

I certainly don't remember them ever going so far as to say that all of the original characters would be dead – and I find it very hard to believe they would ever state that at that time, as the filmmakers have always been jealous about dropping even minor hints about the future storyline, much less something that major.

yeah when i read it it was quiet shocking because i was curious of luke... i wish i remember what the name of the article was... i know it was something about han solo's character dying off...

in the long wrong it is probably BS, but i distinctly remember reading it, and couldnt believe that the WHOLE entire cast would be dead by the end of 9.... i mean chewie, r2 3po? would all of them be gone? its probably BS though, i through this back out there to see if anyone else remembers reading it

No they didn't. A fan may have said it, but no one official.

The only thing comparable to that was that the OT characters were going to headline 7, go 50/50 in 8, and that it'd be primarily the new crew for 9. Clearly after E7 that plan was tossed out the window.

had to been someone unofficial then, like you said.

I challenge you to tweet Rian Johnson and tell him he is a lazy writer over a title.

Well the new reality is Han is dead and Leia is going to be dead so I would bet good money Luke now will survive all three films. They may have had different plans but here we are.

Not guaranteed though,....look what happened in Rogue One:eek

Exactly. Unless they mean it and Jedi are truly extinct, otherwise it really is just retread again... again.
