Star Wars: The Last Jedi (Pre-release)

Re: Star Wars: Episode VIII (Pre-release)

I know I'm not in the same camp, but I really am excited to see what's next for Kylo Ren. I hope they bring in the Knights of Ren as well. Maybe there will be a standoff with Luke or something.

I think we've only scratched the surface of Ben and is being highly underestimated before seeing what is to come. He's not even in his prime yet having not yet completed his training. And the dude flat out slaughtered his own dad. If he's willing to do that, then what wouldn't he do to people who weren't his family?

I have my own theory of wondering if the disturbing calls of the light that Ben gets are those of Anakin Skywalker and he doesn't know it. I wonder how much Luke ever told Leia or Han about Vader before he passed. Perhaps this new information could bring to light the conflict Ben is experiencing.

There's just too much of an open door as to what's next. That 30-year gap leaves so many questions. I'm so excited for whenever the teaser for Ep8 is!

Well, according to the Ep7 novelization, Ben was aware of Vader's last moments, so I'm guessing he gained that knowledge from his parents. Most likely his mother. Possibly from Snoke, I guess.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VIII (Pre-release)

That doesn't make any sense to me then.

If he knew about that then the idea that Ben wants to finish what his Grandfather started, then that would mean his mission is to take down the First Order, since it was Vader who took down the Emperor and the Empire suffering a major blow. So just what then is Ben finishing?

Off topic of this point, but I hear Bloodline is an excellent book. Should I be reading that?

Re: Star Wars: Episode VIII (Pre-release)

Has anyone noticed that set photos and leaks and whatnot really died off after those buttholes decided to climb around all over the Falcon?

Did they tighten up security after that, prior to the wrap on filming?

i have been wondering why aren't there any more leaked photos... beside the giant fat monster alien thing

i always took it as being the most powerful thing in the universe.

My hope would be that Luke kills him immediately at the beginning of the next movie. He's the lamest SW villian I can think of. He makes Jacen Solo, from the old EU, look like he was written by Shakespeare. I'm actually more interested in the Knights of Ren as a whole.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VIII (Pre-release)

Well I respect your opinion and understand. I cannot honestly say I agree, especially since I'm in the middle of building my very expensive costume that I'm hoping to get approved for 501st use.

I'm going to get back to my lame character costume build now ;)

all bad guys have to start somewhere... look how lame anakin was... he was lame until he started slaughtering younglings. i understand when people say he's lame. i personally enjoyed seeing a.... adolescent in the dark side of the force. i loved seeing his little spoiled brat flip outs.. i think now that he killed his own father, we will see a much more evil side to him in ep8.

i think what made vader so evil and sinister was how claim he was.. solo shoots him at the dinner table and he doesnt even mind " it would be a honor if you would join us" i am hoping this is how it plays out for 8.

i dont think we will see luke vs kylo... it would be to easy of a match for luke and not entertaining.. plus disney won't have luke the hero and savor to the franchise kill his own nephew... i think somethings going to happen where luke and rey are slip up and they have to battle it out alone... heck i wouldn't be surprised if they dont have a show down at all (kylo and rey) i think luke and del toro are going to have a little show down myself :cool

Re: Star Wars: Episode VIII (Pre-release)

I fully respect anyone's opinion, and can see where they may be coming from, but Kylo Ren is my favorite character in the entire saga.

Doesn't help I already was initiated into Adam Driver fandom before this.

It's KILLING me there isn't a perfect replica of his saber that won't cost me my marriage if I'm caught buying it.

And my next project is his helmet... Can't get enough, and if it wasn't for him in TFA I wouldn't have been AS big a fan of the flick (though still a fan), or as engaged to where the series is going.

And I may be regurgitating redlettermedia to make my point, but...

I have a hard time ignoring the way the prequels turned him into Space *****. The original trilogy he was just a big, intimidating thug. Like the Jew Hunter in "Inglorious Basterds" - A big ruthless guy you send in to intimidate and get crap done.

"Are you an Angel?"

"I hate sand..."

"Nooooooooo"

Kylo FTW.

Looking sweet. I want to follow suit next year. My friend and I already decided Kylo and Rey Halloween 2017.

Gotta drop 40 pounds and grow 4 inches.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VIII (Pre-release)

Stopping a laser in mid air isn't lame.
It's as lame as someone beaming from Earth to Kronos.

Or beaming onto a ship that's travelling at warp speed.

Or turning the enterprise into a submarine.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VIII (Pre-release)

Kylo is probably the character in SW I've found the most common ground with. I have a bit of a temper when I'm working on things, so I can empathize with a guy who destroys things when his plans go south... I've been there. Those moments of blind anger are a real thing. In fact, not too long ago it cost me the amount of a new airbrush. I get it.

I don't see it as whiny. Maybe it is. Maybe I'm just whiny.

They made a 3 dimensional villain. I can understand how some people could have a problem with that in Star Wars, since it thrives when it's most simplistic, but to say he's the worst villain in Star Wars... nah. GL gave us ROTJ Boba, ROTJ stormtroopers, grievous the weezing lightsaber-spinning robot spider monkey, and the hardly 1 dimensional unkillable Darth Maul.

Don't get me wrong..I love kylo ren. I think he's a perfect villain for this series.

And yes, Vader did stop a bolt too. But what bothers me about this is that he stopped it in mid-air and it hung there for a whole scene while he went about his business. No force user in canon has done anything like that. Anytime anyone uses the force to stop energy or inertia, it involves a ton of effort and concentration. They struggle until the energy can be sent somewhere else. They can't just walk away from it and carry on a conversation

I wouldn't have minded if he diverted the bolt, or made it dissipate. Or if he palmed it and sent it back. That would have worked just as well.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VIII (Pre-release)

I dunno... seems to me his specialty was freezing **** in place. Maybe it's just something he has a knack for and makes him stand out.

And I was just watching a scene last night... I loved when he flipped out and trashed the computer bay, then the other guy mentions "a girl" and kylo turns, force grabs him and pulls him forward into his grip like a boss. "WHAT girl?!"

I think what actually hurt kylo was how Adam driver looks. I have zero problem, but I've heard everything from "ugly" to "weird" to "pretty".... I think he's got a great look, and I love when Rey calls him a monster and he takes off his helmet like a shampoo commercial.

I loved all the stuff with his temper. I had also never seen "girls" before I saw TFA (I have since started to watch it and I love it. Great show) so I had no problem with his looks. Maybe he needed a scar. Mind you, maybe they were going for a "spoiled prince" look which is what they got

Re: Star Wars: Episode VIII (Pre-release)

In a galaxy that has General Grievous, Kylo is far from the lamest villain. He feels a bit like a do-over for Anakin Skywalker, except with a much better actor. Considering most anything with the Force is theoretically possible, I'm baffled why anyone has problems with the notion of stopping a blaster bolt in mid air. The movie seems to indicate stopping and restraining things (including energy) is something he's good at. I also actually liked that he just looked like a regular Joe. Nothing overly dramatic, horrifying or grotesque. I think Astro is right and they might've been going for a "spoiled prince" look. I suspect he'll sport a scar in 8 though.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VIII (Pre-release)

Stopping the laser was the only thing he did that was bad---.

Maybe we find out more, but we have nothing for his motivation, how snoke got him, etc. They said we're seeing the building/creation of a villain. OK. I can buy that, but we've not seen any building yet. Just he's the established attack dog of Snoke it seems and he's very hot headed and unable to control himself/his emotions.

I'd love to love Kylo, but right now there's not enough to do it. He comes off more spoiled brat than bad--- badguy.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VIII (Pre-release)

Vader/Anakin was pretty much either 'all dark' or 'all light'. Kylo on the other hand, is in constant turmoil between the two, which I I think is why his power is very fluctuational.

yes i agree 100%. now with rebels i think some jedi have special abilities that set them apart from one another. ezra can communicate with animals, kylo and freeze, and enter peoples minds, though we have seen other dark side users read minds, i feel like kylo did it different and even made rey pass out
