Oh, sorry. The group I attended with was close to 100 people and the vast majority loved it.
Oh, wait, what's that at the top of this page? The majority of the people voting on this movie LIKED it?
Once again, your assessment of this movie being a "turkey" is laughable at best. :lol
Well...if my assessment is laughable...you're math is downright atrocious.
81 likes to 86 not like does not mean the majority of people liked it.

I think he meant that the majority of the people that said/polled they liked it.. actually liked it. J/K :lol

I wonder how many fans are fooling themselves, I think many of us were guilty of this during prequel fever.
I think I might be embarrassed on my thoughts directly after AOTC.
Do the same poll in a year.

Well.... who can argue with that...

Yes, that particular full-scale Falcon (it's the one in the leaked pictures from many months ago) is off in many ways.

The full sized ship looked great from the ground when they were walking around it. They showcased it's very worst angle on screen. There was a toy where the top mandible was overly thick like the overhead shot in TLJ. It looked like someone took measurements from that toy and scaled it up. Of all the places where a little CG could've cleaned up a mistake...

From the leaked pics the engine deck area was also a mess but fortunately there isn't a good look at that area in the film.

I do agree with you on this. I actually liked the phantom menace when I first saw it when I was in high school. Those were the dark times...

Im confused. Do you mean fooling themselves that it was really a good movie or bad movie?

Cause leaving the theater after each prequel, I was pleased.. and excited for what was to come next..

Years later,,, not so much cause i know the story backwards and forwards

This time around.. same expectations.. but not the same feeling as before.

Here's what I think: When this thing comes out on DVD, somebody will be able to fan-edit this thing into a pretty good film.
Take out the whole Casino thing, starting with Maz's explanation of the strange sequence of tasks they'd need to carry out in order to slice into the new order tracking thing.
Just get rid of Finn. Dude is worthless.
Segue from bridge getting blown up directly to Leia being rescued. No Leia Poppins scene.
Shorten up, or delete the praetorian guard fighting scene. Totally took away from the prior death of Snoke.

And, to whichever fan is going to do this, please figure a way to tell us Snoke's backstory.

I think you've got maybe 110 minutes of good movie here. The remainder was just awful, and a complete waste of time. The stuff that was actually new and challenging (whether I would have gone that way or not) was enjoyable. Luke, Rey, Kylo, Yoda - all good stuff.

Fooling themselves it was better than it actually was.

After TPM I was overly gushing on AOTC, I was just grateful to put distance betweenTPM and myself I think.
Honestly now I can't even bear to look at any of them now, in fact I'm thinking less and less of them
as even canon. By ROTS the audience was laughing during serious parts. Painful.
The spectacle of it all can be mesmerizing, blinding.

Just came back from the film. It’s odd for me as I mostly enjoyed it but I can’t say I much liked it. I’ll need a second viewing to get past my nitpick expectation thing.

I will say, and this is a bit odd considering a lot of what is weak with the film, but that last (tacked on) scene with the kids is what kind of killed it for me. They had the true end in the Falcon with the heroes. And then...

TPM

Qui-Gon, Obiwan, Darth Maul, double bladed light saber, Anikan, Padme, pod race, Jaba, the senate, Tatoine, Naboo, "there's always a bigger fish".. and Soundtrack!

AOTC

Yoda, Count, Windu, death star plans, Sideus, Clones, Battle, Kamino.

Hell, I might go watch them again tonight.:D

I think too many people are seeing the end scene as some kind of setup for a future force character and not what it really was, just a tease that the Rebellion will grow again and there is always hope out there where you least expect it.

What if it was the setup for Rian's new trilogy?

Opening prank call went on way too long, the attempt at *repeated* laughs destroyed the tension. There were funny moments that worked, but too many of them.

Was cool with Lukes character but not with what Rian did with him. LOVED seeing Mark Hamill bring it. Despite his reservations, he dove in 110% and nailed it. But the milking and fishing scenes were awkward.

I really enjoyed the performances from every character, and overall the movie was fun while it was happening. Only things that really took me out was Yoda, who looked drunk and a bit like Frank the Bunny from Donnie Darko in certain shots. That, and the milking/fishing things.

Snoke was a huge letdown, as was the obvious plagiarism from ROTJ showing the battle in real time (albeit through his force looking glass). Watching him throw Kylo and Rey around, and then to be effectively back-stabbed - didn't make sense. Yes, sith apprentices historically murder their masters, but not in movie canon, and other than Kylo getting slapped around, there wasn't really a build up to that end here.

**and the referring to Vader thing was silly too. Vader was redeemed, and effectively ended the sith. Don't see how that's role model material for future sith**

Rose was fine. But the Canto arc was useless, and got them nowhere.
Let down by Phasma again.
Finn's character accomplished nothing.
Didn't mind the porgs at all. Or the Caretakers.
Would have happily traded the Canto arc for more Ach-to time with training/history lessons.

(yes, Luke was always whiny. That didn't stop people with imagination running wild in the EU with some - since we now have a barometer - relatively not bad story arcs. I don't like what Rian did with his character at all).

With the OG characters all gone from the story, I feel little connection to the story. Will DJ's character come back and be a Han Solo type? Don't care. Will Rey and Kylo resolve? Don't really care - they've removed the history from the story (kill the past to move forward?). Add JJ to that, and it's really tough to find a reason to continue forward.

**edit: removed history, save for the books stashed on the falcon - still not interesting enough to return for IX.

This movie was great to watch, super fun while you're caught up in it. It really reminded me of Disney kids flicks from the 70s; Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Escape from Witch Mountain, Bed knobs and broomsticks... Yes, brought tears to my eyes - more than once. But once I was driving home, it started falling apart. If I buy the Blue Ray, I'll likely only watch scenes, not sure I'll ever sit through the entire thing again. Have tickets for tonight, but seriously considering watching Rogue 1 and Star Wars at home.

My feelings - without belaboring it - There was a lot that was good and there was a lot that was bad. The good stuff makes me hate the bad that much more. There are moments where this film is great, followed shortly by a cringe. I'd rather focus on the decent bits because Mark Hamill was fantastic. But Leia's moment as Star Lord... hmmm.
