Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

Was that Truce at Bakura?

I think it was that one.

The force ghosts thing never made much sense in the books, Anakin never showed up again because his daughter was pissed at him, Ben just faded away over time, I don't think Yoda even made an apparence as a ghost, and you would think his ghost would have the most power.

I think the authors just don't know what to do with Force ghosts.

I think they purposely avoided them so in every book someone wasn't showing up to give Luke advice. Zahn started that when Obi Wan said something like "Hey I'm taking off for a while so you won't hear from me. See ya!" :lol If the rumors are true it would make sense for someone to show up and give Luke advice here though.

Seeing that Han artwork makes me think again that they are falling back into SW stereotypes like the EU has been doing since 94. Do you really think Han wore that duster in ROTJ and said "Ya know, I think I found my style!" and has been wearing one since? I mean in the EU (particularly games) every Rodian is a bounty hunter, all Trandoshans (like Bossk) are bounty hunters, every Gran (three eyed alien in ROTJ) works for Hutts, etc.

Zahn did that in the very first of his books. Ben told luke he wouldn't see him anymore...Luke was drinking hot chocolate too :)

Oh please. Guys stop it, it's just concept costume art, enough with the hyperbole.
There's nothing wrong with a voicing an opinion. Or was your statement about hyperbole, hyperbole itself... in which case, well played...

That said, it is still only concept art... and it sure looks a whole lot like Han from RotJ.

I'm looking forward to the "Art Of..." book when it comes out...

I don't think they knew what to do with Luke.

I got sick of every other story starting with him being injured, knocked out, or having some weird anti force creature being put on him so he couldn't use his powers.

As bad as they could be, they at least kept the galaxy alive during the drought.

What would be funny is if force ghosts weren't real to anyone but Luke. His sensitivity to the force lets him communicate with the dead, and in the movies, instead of just having this disembodied voice talking to him, they created a ghost. You could imagine all these voices in his head telling him stuff would eventually drive him a little crazy ;)

I always thought that WAS the way it is supposed to be. No one else seems to notice them at the Ewok picnic. As far as the movies go, has anyone else ever seen a force ghost?

Yoda said he TALKED to Qui Gon in episode III...

Yoda saw Ben in episode IV.

But that's it.

I meant VI!!! LOL!!!

ROMAN NUMERAL DYSLEXIA!

Yoda talked to Ben's ghost in ROTJ is what I meant...

But... Yoda wasn't in Episode IV, and Ben was only heard, not seen as a ghost. Wait, is there something I need to know about?

Good lord, sorry. I'm at my family christmas thing and apparently have never seen the OT!!! LOLOL!!!!

Ok.

Ben only talks to Luke in epVI. He only appears after yoda passes away.

Yoda talks to obi in epV "no, there is another".

I think I drank myself stupid last night, now I'm dealing with family sober... Cut me some slack! :p

You mean Ep. V (TESB)? Yoda doesn't talk to Obi-wan in Ep.VI (ROTJ)...lol!

Ben appeared to Luke twice before yoda passes away... on Hoth to tell him to go to the Dagobah system... "...there, you will learn from Yoda, the Jedi Master who instructed me" ... and appears again to Luke as he is entering the X-wing and Yoda turns to look at Obi Wan so even Yoda sees him on Dagobah in ESB (click on second picture below)

Obi-Wan: Patience.
Luke: And sacrifice Han and Leia?
Yoda: If you honor what they fight for? Yes.
Obi-Wan: If you choose to face Vader, you will do it alone. I cannot interfere.
Luke: I understand. R2? Fire up the converters.
Obi-Wan: Luke! Don't give in to hate. That leads to the Dark Side.
Yoda: Strong is Vader. Mind what you have learned. Save you it can.
Luke: I will. And I'll return, I promise.
