Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

It's either yet another populated place on a supposed backwater planet or a new planet we haven't seen before, albeit quite similar to Tatooine. Idk what planet it is, Tatooine or otherwise, but it would be nice to move on from Tattoine, especially considering it would have to be one hell of a contrivance to bring the planet back.

Your argument has merit. To wit, Luke himself said in Ep. IV that he was "never coming back to this rock again." However, he did renege on that at least once in Jedi. So, he may indeed have returned to his childhood home. Or not! :)

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

I know everyone is bringing up the idea of the three bladed lightsaber and I'm sure you're all tired of hearing about it but I think its an awesome idea. Its menacing and I think it can be very functional. Screw it being a lighsaber guard. A lot of the lightsaber fights have someone using the pommel to knock the other person away in a fight. Imagine hitting him with another lightsaber to the face. Ends a fight pretty quick. Also, there are people saying how they're likely to injure themselves whole using something like that. I don't think this guy would be twirling around with that. He could very well be since we don't know how the fighting style will be, but I think this blade is for a more aggressive attack style with less acrobatic fighting.

Also, anyone else notice the ignition and him of the saber sounds very different? There's also what seem to be electric current running through it. IMO it makes it a lot more sinister looking.

I totally dig the new saber…or should I say very old saber. The rawness, the very different sound, the design of the hilt (which is very large), very effective. This debate about its practicality is silly, a lightsaber is an extremely dangerously impractical weapon as it is.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

this quote alone sums up my feelings on it quite well:
"...this droid is the symbol of what I want from Star Wars: The Force Awakens - something identifiably Star Wars but not beholden to a nostalgic do-over of the past. I want to see things that are familiar yet new, like a street on which you grew up that now has a couple of cool new stores and restaurants. It's the hardest thing to pull off: make it the same but different. "

Yeah, and not just the ball droid, but really everything I've seen so far.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

always two there are... a master and an apprentice... this new sith or dark lord probably has a buddy... although the dialog is written specifically for the teaser I would believe the voice over of Andy Serkis would be that of the voice of this new dark lord... the dialog asks a question... "There's been an awakening... have you felt it?" who is he asking? so I would bet he does not work alone... hmmmm :popcorn

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

It almost goes against everything we've seen in Star Wars so far, but it might just be a desert on a planet... that has a varied ecology and climate. Maybe?

If the Sith have learned anything at all, alone is the only way they should work. They're a greedy, opportunistic lot to have to share power with! :D

On Now This is Podcasting they brought up the fact you don't see twin suns in the shot with the Falcon. May not be Tatooine.

I know, what a crazy idea that would be.

Maybe Andy Serkis is just a crazy voice in Luke's head:wacko
