Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

I'm officially into the new dish. This is a conversion of one of my old models. Didn't have to change much to get her to look right, just the dish, the quad cannons (based on that blurry image that came out of Greenham Common a while back.) and a few other minor surface details.

I actually think I like the new dish better...

It does, which would also be a first for a SW trailer.

No, there were the TPM "tone poems."

I never get tired of those Hitler reacts gags. They're like fart jokes or sack taps. Always funny.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

I also yearn for the older aesthetic but we also need to appreciate an entire new generation of kids would find that kind of effect shot boring. In all aspects of considering the elements of these new films, we old fans must keep in mind they aren't being made just for us.

There is a lens flare in this shot! My god, it's not funny or cute anymore. Also, now "we old fans" can use this excuse that they are for a different generation, but you told my generation that the prequels sucked? Why the double standard?

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

You should have watch it once frame by frame you'd of spotted it straight away then, bit like no one has mentioned the 2 other people in the forrest running away in the horizon,,,,,,,,,sorry thats the harry potter trailer I just watched.

Looks like he's still alone with his steam sabre, I mean coal sabre...

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Except by that logic, the Force was out of balance post ROTJ, as the Emperor and Vader were dead and Luke was alive.

Technically, The Force was in balance at the beginning of ANH as there were two Sith (Palps and Vader) and two Jedi (Kenobi and Yoda). Then Farmboy had to go and screw it all up by setting into motion events that led to the lack of Sith and only one Jedi.

Ok last time I'm going to say this. Lucas said the prophecy was a Jedi prophecy and that in the Jedi's view the Force is in balance if there is no Dark Side. It's not a ying/yang balance. When Vader kills the Emperor and goes back to the Light Side, the Force is in balance. ;)

I had no problem with the Jedi fighting style in the Prequels, but thinking on it while reading some of the comments I do think that they should alter the style for Luke and any future Jedi. Yoda says the Jedi have become arrogant, and that certainly could have been showcased in the showier fighting styles. Get rid of all those unnecessary flips, lightsaber twirls, etc. and break it down to the essentials. I would make it more impressive than the OT fighting because that was pretty much just fencing. It would also look like Luke was still a newbie if he fought like that. I want him to come out and wipe the floor with another lightsaber wielder.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Dont know if its been mentioned yet but, the saber design and the lightning type blade could suggest its an ancient
sith saber not just JJ trying to re-invent the wheel.

Judging by the quality of the prequels (apparently a tragic fall from greatness is taking an already emotionally unstable whiny half-human half mystical energy field and have him be manipulated by an old politician (who is showing far more interest in a young man than he rightfully should) into killing his friends and family so they could hang out together and have the younger one call him Master (if that ain't creepy then I don't now what is)), I wouldn't trust Lucas to give me advice on McDonald's vs Burger King, let alone give me input on good vs evil.

All facetiousness aside, Lucas' definition of "balance" is flawed from the start. It's like having a vegan claim that a balanced diet consists of nothing but vegetables. It completely ignores an overall view that is present in society at large for one from a singular perspective.
