Well, there’s DEFINITELY been a great disturbance in the Force , a presence I’ve not felt since……. ..The media coverage has been phenomenal ,to say the least. Even the BBC news and current affairs Radio 4 “Today” program had a five minute piece on it this morning!!!!
For a teaser trailer the interest in it is quite remarkable, there’s hardly a news website that does link in to it one way or another, and the bulk of the responses and feedback have been hugely positive. Very smart move not showing too much too early, I imagine by the middle of next year ,when the proper trailer is ready to reveal a little more, with the older trilogy characters inclusion it will kick this into the stratosphere.
Some thoughts on the sabre, I guess most peoples responses to it might be a little influenced by “Highlander”, I certainly felt more of that vibe watching it. A longsabre with a hilt could certainly trap a blade more effectively than a normal light sabre, allowing for some brutal physical contact , and if that is force lightning dancing up and down it, well it could be very interesting indeed. Plus if you can suddenly turn off one of the beams allowing the other blade to slip off past, you can slash an enemy wide open as they stumble past. Perhaps the reason there is the “chrome armour” on the new troopers is because its more sabre resistant !!! I also watched “Game of Thrones” and, as people have mentioned, I think that Gwendolyn Christies character could easily be that figure in the woods because it looks like they have definitely have wider than average hips!!! Its rumoured she’s pursuing John very hard but just why? Does she have a duel Sith identity???? And what’s he carrying that makes such a pursuit so important???
And I’m intrigued by the voice over , who exactly is force sensitive enough to pick up the disturbance? Could there be a third party that is neither Sith nor Jedi?
And the arguments over the Falcon are a bit reductive. Anyone watched her shift in Empire or ROTJ recently????
After listening to all the discussions over whether or not JJ and Disney could possible do the series any justice at all , I've got to say on current evidence my belief is that they will on the whole exceed most peoples expectations by quite a margin.
PS That Lego trailer was very well done in such a narrow time frame.Thanks for posting it!!!
