Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Both the X-wing fighter and the Millennium Falcon were built as full size physical models. I am sure that CGI was utilized as well.

Yes, full size mock ups were constructed, but I was wondering if filming miniatures existed, like in the good old days. There certainly are miniatures involved in the making of this movie, but these two particular spaceships? I wonder.

“Light thinks it travels faster than anything but it is wrong. No matter how fast light travels, it finds the darkness has always got there first, and is waiting for it.”

Wow......That is really heavy. I'm going to borrow that and use it, if you don't mind.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

I didn't hear Cumberbatch until reading that others thought it was him. I heard Serkis' Nerdist podcast not too long ago, and I'm going with him

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

It was the very definition of a teaser. And while the camera work is clearly different from classic star wars, I think he's hit enough of the right notes to get people talking and interested. I like what I'm seeing so far.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

In regards to the presence of Stormtroopers in the film, there have been rumors that many of them are working for the Adam Driver character, specifically the Chrome Troopers we have yet to see. So again, the presence of TIE's and ST doesn't mean Empire necessarily.

Can we get the trailer added to the beginning of this thread, just to make it easier to find?

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

I would say that the presence of the classic tie is evidence that they don't belong to the empire.
There is no way the empire would still be using the original one.

Most likely they're repurposed for someone else

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

The artwork and shots of the "Imperial hangar"set with the Tie fighter racks pretty much indicates they're still in use by the empire. And why wouldn't they still be using them? We've been flying fighters for over three decades in our own military. A more advanced society would certainly fly them longer.

Meanwhile, 30 year later on Tatooine....

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

STAR WARS is lightsabers and bad guys in black capes and Stormtroopers and X-wings and the Falcon fighting TIE's, pretty much everything this teaser gives us a glimpse of. The idea that STAR WARS is this huge universe and should be explored beyond that is the provenance of novels and comics and TV and maybe spinoff films. Cinematic STAR WARS should always deliver on the basic tenants that have always informed the movie saga.

This^

Trailer looks great....let's hope that JJ doesn't butcher it.
