Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I really hate that makimbo or whatever the hell that guys name is at LR. Not sure why but there's just something there. And just because he denied playing Kahn even though he was, does not automatically mean the same thing is happening here. That's a bit of a stretch.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Latino Review has been pretty on about things over the last few years haven't they?

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

They had their share of rumors which got debunked, but yes overall they had quite a number of scoops (including this year) which they reported weeks in advance, which later turned out to be true.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

It's a lot of raw, open desert over there. I don't mind a return to Tatooine. If they do I wish they went back to Yuma, that's only a 2.5 hour drive for me.

A brief return, perhaps. Maybe a new Jedi Academy there or something. But only a brief return and I'd really like the story to focus on other planets. Perhaps some mentioned but not seen in other films, like, say, Corellia.

The rumor regarding this location did mention it would be brief. :)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Yeah I'd like to see Corellia. For some reason it's one of the only planets not to make it into a game yet.

It was in Galaxies as one of the playable planets, and was definitely one of the best places to explore, socialize, build, fight...it was rad. Lovely place. Beatifully portrayed in that game, albeit Coronet was a little on the skimpy side.

Technically it was in Rogue Squadron as well, but that wasn't much of an appearance.

I do not believe it's been mentioned in any of the movies, has it? It's been seen or mentioned in most all of the EU novels (that i have read) though.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Yeah, Corellia is mentioned by Han, albeit in a bit of a roundabout way.

"I've outrun Imperial starships. Not the local bulk cruisers, mind you. I'm talking about the big Corellian ships, now."

I'd actually never thought about this line before but I wonder what an Imperial bulk cruiser or the Imperial "big Corellian ships" actually are? Shame George never depicted them. I wonder if either the former or the latter was actually referring to what later became known as the star destroyer.

We never saw bulk cruisers, which would've made more sense to be stationed around a backwater like Tatooine. The only reason we saw the Star Destroyers there was because they were chasing Leia. I always assumed the Star Destroyers were made on (or orbiting) Corellia, hence they were the "big Corellian ships."

It would've been nice to see a bit more diversity of Imperial heavy and capital ships.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Yeah, I almost wonder if we've actually had a canon account of where star destroyers come from under our noses the whole time. I know the EU has them being made by Kuat Drive Yards. Were star destroyers known as such during the production of ANH? I know they aren't mentioned by name in the films until TESB.

What's also funny is that neither star destroyers nor any of the other large ships in the movies are ever depicted as being terribly fast. Seems like boasting you can outrun one isn't that much of a claim! lol

Might have to do with tractor-beams and beam strength. But let's also not forget that Solo's boasting in that scene, including his use of terminology that seems to imply speed when it actually implies distance. "I've outrun big slow ships and moved shorter distances than you might expect! Hire me!"

The post-hoc explanations that don't make him look like an idiot could be the usual "Kessel Run being about how short a distance you can do it in, because of the risky space you fly through" and "outrunning" big ships meaning that you can get out of their tractor-beam effective range faster than they can fully lock on to you.

That or Solo's just full of it. :)

It's also in SWTOR.
