Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

A major corporation making money off their property? The nerve! The injustice!

Sorry, I couldn't resist 
Oh, I understand they're in business to make money, and I wouldn't expect them to back away from an opportunity to do so. And providing they don't go crazy with the budget or create a really stupid backstory, I'm almost certain that a standalone Boba Fett movie would generate a nice profit for Disney. But I'm also convinced Boba Fett fans won't like any backstory they come up with for him, so it is a bit of a gamble.

I would actually much rather have a story about Jango similar to the Bounty Hunter game. He's way more interesting IMO than Boba.

I'm not sure if I will get into the new books or not. Maybe if they really lay out what's going on with the new EU. They are leaving it up in the air whether just the post ROTJ EU is scrapped or if it's everything. There's not much reason to scrap everything before that.

I thought they were quite clear when they said NOTHING in the EU is canon?

Semi... Nothing in what used to be the EU is carried straight over. All of the pre-movie period stuff that doesn't have any continuity issues may be okay. A lot of the movie-era stuff that doesn't conflict could also be okay. That's the stuff the Story Group is going to be spending the next couple years winnowing through to determine. But, apart from any specific elements the filmmakers like and incorporate into the new Episodes (like how George did with the name "Coruscant"), nothing from Truce at Bakura on exists any more, as a single narrative. Luke never got married, Han and Leia didn't have twins, etc.

SVS, I thought it was equally clear that the new novels and comics that are coming out are canon, on the same level as the films and TV series. A New Dawn, Tarkin, Heir to the Jedi... All canon and gonna be around for a long time, so you might as well go ahead and read them... or at least their Wiki summaries.

If I'm to understand the Disney memo correctly, anything under the Star Wars Legends brand is not canon. They have the option of making parts of it canon if they choose to use it, but as of now, it is non-canon.

Yeah really now that they are making a whole load of new Star Wars, they are trying to control storylines & characters so that they can cross-populate them from the movies & the 2 CG TV series' so that the everything makes sense.......not that this will fix the problems with the prequels....*ducks*

Why don't more people understand this

Nothing I ever saw said it that clearly. They just said the post ROTJ stuff was gone. It would be really stupid to get rid of everything before that.

EVERYTHING in the EU is vacated. All of it. It's not a debate, it's not a question. Anyone can choose to think that the Darth Bane novels are canon, I like them and do, but if Disney chooses to create content in that era, Bane is canon bit the novels are not.

the official canon of Star Wars is the six films, Clone Wars, Rebels, and the new Marvel comics and three novels. And some other young reader books. That's OT. Anything else is personal choice but can't be considered canon.

It would be unfortunate if everything from the EU was expunged to the absolute degree. Like I know we can't have Thrawn in the same capacity as he was in the EU, but why should that stop his entire species from existing at all? Bane got really lucky when he appeared in Clone Wars, but that was before the massive EU wipe happened so as you said they could do anything in that era.

I suspect that what will happen is that bits and pieces of the EU will incorporated into the new canon, maybe not exactly as it was before but enough to be recognizable. The way I see it, with the wiping of the EU it doesn't that it all doesn't exist any more and we'll never see any of it incorporated into any new Star Wars media, it's just that going forward they're no longer beholden to the EU so if there's anything they don't like they don't have to acknowledge it and likewise they can keep anything they do like.

Its vacated in so far as they can choose any elements to carry forward but until that time, it's not part of the official story.

I assumed they were wiping all the EU, but I never saw anything where they said it outright. They said all of the post ROTJ is gone, but they would go over the rest to see what they would keep. The rest would be available to reintroduce into the new EU if they wanted. What about that pre-AOTC novel? They reference events from that in the movie. I think Obi Wan and Anakin are talking about which of them rescued the other. IMO they are just being extremely lazy by wiping everything when they could keep the good and ignore the bad. I'm talking about everything except post ROTJ.

Hi Gang,

I posted this over on my thread as well... I was looking over all the images from the new EP VII cockpit and something in this particular image caught my attention that I don't think ANYBODY NOTICED!!! Study the pic very carefully. Look at the center console. Now look just to the left of the of throttle housing and just below the nav screen! UMMMMMMMM... HMMMMM...

They added something... This does NOT appear to be a greeblie on the "instrument panel" - it's further back on the console. What the HE** is that?!!!!!!!!!

Could you circle the part/area in question and repost the image, that might help those of who are not intimately familiar with the layout and details of the Falcon's cockpit.

hard to tell what we're looking at. Could be an additional throttle control? The way the image is blown out, can't make heads or tails of anything.

oh, no wait I see what you mean that it could be some object protruding from the very tail end of the "armrest" portion of the console. hmmmmmm... I'm unwilling to say at this point. Need more leaks!! and or a trailer with some shots in the cockpit. Will the trailer with Age of Ultron never come?

going back to the view of the cockpit on the Fortune magazine cover, I can't see something that big protruding there. Though Sofaking, we did talk about the cockpit model here being a stand in, so it's hard to tell if these correspond to the fullscale interior set piece.

Also just noticed that the tupperware lids are missing from the backrests of the Nav-Seats.
