Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Here's the only one I could find. The other one directly referenced X-Wing and TIE Fighter, but I can't remember where I saw it. TheForce.net: EA 'Looking At The Old Games' As It Defines The Future Of Star Wars Gaming Specifically this line:

Be careful what you wish for. Seeing it's EA, if they did an xwing/tie fighter game it's likely be multiplayer with limited solo/solo-able missions and you'd have to pay extra for your R2 unit, ship colors, proton torpedo's, etc. I mean, they did say they'd take their own stance - that's EA's MO, nickle and dime you for all it's worth :)

I wouldn't trust them farther than i could throw them. If you ask them, single player gaming is dead.

The thing is that Disney has the say on what they do. EA is only publishing the game. The only problem would be making it PC only because I wouldn't want a game like that dumbed down to work with console controllers.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Rogue Squadron was designed for console. Which is why playing it on a PC felt like tic-tac-toe.

4 Rules to Make Star Wars Great Again....oops sorry for the double post here's a golden old from the true screen Jedi master.
Camera goes out of focus but what was said after the movie clip review is the true essence.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Personally, my ideal game is a full-on smuggler sim. Mix the best elements of Privateer and X-wing, alongside some first-person on-the-ground action, and allow seamless transition from ground to space. It'd have an economy (because you'd NEED one if you're gonna smuggle...), law enforcement, other planets where you're more free to do as you please, etc., etc.

And it'll never be made. :(

Have you heard of Star Citizen? I have a lot of hopes tied up in this game.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I actually stumbled across that a while back in my search for a modern space sim to try to fill the void the X-wing series left! Lol! Looks good though it looks like it's gonna require a beast of a PC to run. I still can't help but look at the screenies and vids and think how amazing a new X-wing game would be if the same amount of effort and money were thrown at it.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I realize there's not much Episode VII info coming out just yet, but do we need to discuss video games that have nothing to do with the ST? May i suggest the discussion be transferred to this thread or it's own?

My PC is 6 years old and has run pretty much anything on high until lately. I think my PC would freak the hell out just loading the title screen for Star Citizen! :lol I need to stop buying prop, model, and car stuff and build a new PC.

You're being a bit pedantic. No one's obstructing the EpVII discussion. It came up as part of a natural extension of a conversation that was already happening.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Fine. Back on topic, then? Here goes.

I hope Star Wars VII retcons the EU out of existence.

Also, I heard Mark Hamill might be in it, but nobody's 100% sure.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Just to circle back to the issue's of Tatooine potentially featuring in Ep VII, there is a terrific excerpt from the new book "Kenobi" where Ben while attempting to commune with Qui-gon notes that they took a child from Tatooine to try and save the galaxy and now have returned a child there as the galaxies last hope. A nice bit if symmetry and sort if implies perhaps Tatooine actually is a special place despite being farthest from any bright spot in the galaxy. I always thought of Tatooine as the Arrakis, or Dune, os Star Wars and not just because Dune likely inspired it for GL.

10 Things We Know About Episode VII After a Year « furiousfanboys.com

A few of these are more so "things we're pretty sure we think we know based on a general consensus, commonly accepted speculation, and educated guesses" than "things we know", but still a good recap of what to expect so far.

Personally, I hope we see a respectful treatment of the returning elements (characters, settings, and mythologies), that allows the door to open wide on brand new stories, characters, and worlds. I hope to sit in awe again, with eyes wide and imagination sparked, at those wondrous stories from a galaxy far, far, away.

Also, I heard Mark Hamill might be in it, but nobody's 100% sure.

I heard Hamill, Fisher, and Ford were all in final negotiations and pretty much confirmed for the parts.

I think JJ Abrams will do a good job with these movies, seeing as he has always considered himself a big Star Wars fan. I can't see what is in a way a fan-made movie turning out badly.

I'm more worried about the spinoff movies that seem to be in planning...

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Yeah, my point was more that pretty much everything there is to know, we already know and has been discussed to death. Hence the rather wide-ranging conversation until there's new stuff to digest. We've talked about the prequels, the blu-rays, whether the OOT will be released, technical issues relating thereto, etc.

There's just nothing much to say about Ep. VII right now other than basically drafting short-form fan fiction wishes about where we want the movie to go. "I think Lando's nephew should be a smuggler jedi card-shark hero. And he should fall in love with Luke Skywalker's daughter. Also, the Empire and the Sith should be the bad guys because it's not Star Wars without blahdeblahblah!"
