Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Post-release)

At the end of the day, the only bit of bad direction (for me) was the fact that the rebel base watched the new republic explode. It was basically the same thing as old spock watching Vulcan implode from red matter.

That and the falcon movement. Good lord.

Have they not set in motion a rebooquel of ESB?

The new Empire will most certainly strike back
The new kid must train with a master before facing great evil.
The new Emperor will be pulling strings from behind the scenes
New family relation revelations are bound to occur.
All this saber work someone will lose an appendage.

Are they boxed in now?

Not at all. This films conclusion was almost indentical to ESB. This film ends with nothing but uncertainty and questions. Where this film leaves off in regards to the characters we have met is entirely open to all sorts of possibilities.

Noticed some image flopping going on with Ren. The damage on his mask switches sides.

Most didn't or don't even know what a "Mary Sue" was/is. My friend who has been a writer for 15 years had never even heard of it.

My wife did, total fan fiction reader. LOL But not SW/Trek stuff.
The character was being noticed as too good at everything, so something was not right,
the Mary Sue thing simply told me why. Even Luke screwed up now and then in ANH.

Yeah, I was gonna comment on that too. Is that confirmed? If so, wow!

I thought the same thing. Haven't read anything about that detail but I have a feeling that the novelization may expand on small things like this.

I noticed also during one shot on Starkiller she is holding the blaster with her left hand.

Being a leftie myself, that is something I always pick up on.....

You know what I would have loved in this movie? A funeral for han

I agree - to an extent. Problem with that would be - the only people on the base that knew him (that we can be sure of) are Leia and Chewie. Rey and Finn knew him for what? a few days at most? If VIII picks up where VII left off, it could be in there as well.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens release was delayed in India for a week, so I went offline pretty much completely to avoid spoilers after its worldwide premiere last week.

It's getting released here on Dec 25 Friday but they had a early Thursday night screening. And having a packed enthusiastic fan crowd just made the movie experience even better.

The movie has its problems especially with some of the story elements being a retread of the original trilogy, but the characters really hold up the movie for me.

Though it may not be the contender for my most favourite movie of the year, I enjoyed it very much and I'm hoping to watch it again next week.

The movie was fun, exciting and emotional. Couple of great goosebumps inducing moments. I was happy to see the familiar characters but even more glad to see the new characters blending so well in the existing mythology. The new characters are compelling and I am really looking forward to seeing their further adventures and to explore their backstories.

JJ Abrams was under so much pressure with this enormous task of delivering a sequel that would be embraced by the majority of Star Wars fans. And though the movie will always have its share of fans who were genuinely disappointed with the movie, I feel most would agree that he did a good job with it.

I'd have to agree. Although, for all of the nae sayers stating this was identical to ANH, I could see where the conclusion would come from. I am one to disagree with fans saying this is ANH reboot. Although similarities were bound to happen, it is far and above a different story. That being said the next film could mimic ESB, however I think JJ has grand plans for the over all direction of this trilogy. I know he's not directing it, but if I'm not mistaken he's written a good majority of the second film and producing it correct?

In any case, there are still so many questions unanswered and directions that they could go with Luke and Rey. Are they family, is Rey Obi Wan's, is Luke playing the line between good and evil? Ren's rise to power after being deformed by Rey, Snoke in general. A ton they could do.
