As I said in my post, this film was exactly what we needed to get us on board with this new trilogy. It does exactly what it needed to do introducing new characters and storylines we actually care about while still feeling familiar... I didn't see that happen in the prequels personally. Both old and new fans can and will sit down and enjoy this movie.

I honestly don't know what more you want from the movie... People will complain if it's too similar, but they will also complain if it's too different. What we could've gotten VS what we DID get? I'm beyond thankful to JJ..

Loved the movie. I could nitpick it to death like everyone else but I enjoyed it. It was far superior to the prequels and it matched up pretty well against the originals.

One thing I HATED was Chewie just walking past Leia after coming back without Han. That was stupid as hell.

The other thing I hate. Kylo Ren. Not because it's a bad character but because his character is such a rotten unsympathetic monster.

But seriously, I had fun. FUN. I felt excitement and wonder and for two hours, I was with old friends again. I'm happy. Relieved. And a LOT of other people feel that way, too.

JJ just gave you the OT in one movie. He hasn't done anything new and the movie was a joke. 3 year wait and with a year of high class secretly. Now I know why, he didn't want anyone to know anything. He just copied and pasted the movies from the OT. I can totally understand why he said he only doing one of the films. Can't copy and paste episode 1-3 since no one liked them. Once again he is overrated in this industry.

A great deal of viewers hated it and are very Pissed off at it. They feel like they have been cheated out of a new story. Only people who wish to relive the magic they grew up with have liked it. You basically finally got a shiny new version of a beloved story. It's a reboot with surprise guest joking about old times plain and simple. IMDb has it scored at 8.9 which is funny cause almost every review as it as 1-4 ( 4 cause it's Star Wars curve). All critics and media outlets love it cause they have too. Disney is very powerful and spends a ton of dough to make sure they like it. Go against the mouse and you're head will be in the Decon trap.

i wish I could love and cheer all about it..I can't cause I'm realistic. I know many other that feel the same way. The only thing they can do next time is blow this crap up. It will need a massive shocker right out the gate and a lot more new story.

Cmon guys. I love ESB and ANH but Jedi is just as good. Jedi was the perfect ending.

Teddy bear Woodstock? No thanks.

Puppet,...Puppets!!!! You wanna talk puppets. Can you say Taun Tauns and Wampa.

They occupy maybe one minute of screen time between them in ESB. ROTJ was plastered with 50 different muppets, many with dialogue.

Luke's 15 minutes if training. No saber training. Run, climb a rope, do a hand stand. bam, you are a Jedi.:facepalm

He wasn't a Jedi at the end of ESB. Some bozo who write ROTJ decided to promote him. Go figure.

Oh yeah, puppet. Can ya say Yoda. Max Reebo looked just as good.

Yoda was such a strong character the puppetry wasn't a problem for me.

Just got back from second showing... noticed some new things. I totally heard Old Obi-Wan yell "Rey" during the vision. Asked my brother afterward (without prepping him for it) he heard it too.

My theory about Rey is she IS Lukes daughter. Maz said that what she's looking for lies ahead. And that the saber was meant for her. I also think that Luke took Rey to Jakku to keep her safe because he didn't trust Ben. He knew Ben was about to turn and whuile he was gone Ben wiped out everyone. That's where his guilt comes from.

But they need to change clothes at least every 3 days....otherwise you start thinking of smelly onions interfering with a kiss and that's more intrusive than Threepio.

There was a Wilhelm during Finn and Poe's Tie escape, if that's what you meant.

I remembered hearing the Wilhelm in there as one of the troopers went flying, but it was low in the audio mix, rather than really obvious (like in ROTJ). It's at the point now where if you're going to do it at all, you have to do it subtle to not take you out of the movie, since that stock sound sticks out so much.

I also think Kylo may have been jealous of Rey. Maybe she was a natural as a kid and she took up all of Lukes attention and that set him off. Like another father that he feels let him down. So Luke hid her to protect her. All theory of course.

Rey IS Luke's daughter.....


It's killing me that I have to wait 18 months for absolution....resolution....and oh my what he'll bring to the story.

I wonder if her name is derived from Ray of Light.


I'm far more interested in Luke than anyone else. That's just me. It hasn't changed for 38 years.

You would think - had he know her, even as a little kid that at some point in the conversation - or when he was meddling in her head - that he'd see that her dad left her and that looking at the vision through her eyes realized the dad was luke, or recoginzie the girl, etc. Similarly, you'd have thought han or leia would mention the daughter as well. "he and his daughter took off after..." or "he disappeared with his family/daughter/something".

Seems to me if she is his, then han and leia didn't know about her or at least thinks she's dead. Even if that's the case, Han shoulda put 2 and 2 together when Maz told them the saber called to her....

A weird part of me deep down wonders if she is a Kenobi. Obi-wan's niece or grand daughter? I could see the "poetry" of having a Skywalker train a Kenobi.

The only words were from Leia as Rey was taking off...

"May the Force be with you."

My guess is Leia's nascent Force abilities told the tale of what had happened and what Rey had been witness to. Leia isn't a Jedi but I definitely think she's "in tune" with things.

Okay I have to ask, why all the hate for ROTJ?

The only real problem I have with Return of the Jedi is that it isn't quite as "polished" as A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back. The dialogue, the effects, some of the characters...it feels like Lucas made the movie because he had to at that point, not because he wanted to, so he gave it about 75% of the effort he'd put into the previous movies, then said, "Ehhhh, that's good enough."

On a separate note, I'm guessing Rey is either going to be Luke's daughter, or his niece/Kylo Ren's twin sister.
