Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Post-release)

Wasn't it rumored originally he was part of the resistance and a spy within them for the first order. There was more details but that was the main part of it.It would have worked perfect as he wears a mask. That was very early on in the rumors though.

...Did you think it was supposed to be clear and obvious from the start that Snoke was a hologram, or did you think he was a giant being, or did you feel it was ambiguous?...
It didn't immediately register with me that it was a hologram, but it only took a few seconds for me to realize it.

Or it's that they acknowledge that the films share a lot of commonality with each other, but also do some different things. Although, in some cases, it really does boil down to "I know it was very similar to the previous films. I don't care. That didn't diminish my sense of having been entertained."
Quite right, and this is pretty much how I feel about The Force Awakens. I'm not a fan of the Mad Max franchise or post-apocalyptic movies in general so, although I don't feel I wasted two hours watching Mad Max: Fury Road, I didn't find it to be nearly as entertaining as The Force Awakens.

The fact that the hologram powers down at the end of the first scene makes me think it was meant to be clear that it was a hologram. I even missed the flickering initially but while i was confused I realized by the powering down.

I think this makes it even worse that there wasn't a moment between the two after Han's death

Yes, if they hadn't embraced earlier in the film, and had the filmmakers shown us an expression or two that Chewie and Leia had fallen out of each other's favor, then it'd make sense she'd not console him after Han died. But by them sharing the warm embrace earlier, it makes the lack of an embrace so conspicuously absent later when Han has died.

Lol God, she's got a killer wink, doesn't she?

Unfortunately, this is not too far off from the way Rey rollicked through the film.

Personally I wish Leia would have ran over to console Chewie and he would have ripped her arm off and flogged her with it . so we could all be debating "how come the force did not let Leia know that she should of left Chewie alone?"

And here is a prediction everyone will hate ( i did not like it much myself) a friend of mine said with Han gone he thinks they will or should " Kill off " the Falcon .

lmao...well, let's hope we get that in the special edition.

Don't worry, annanake, the Falcon is here to stay. She's Rey's now, with Chewie as Rey's 1st mate, just as Disney wants it. The Millennium Falcon is a character in and of itself, and far too valuable to be killed off.

Regarding Leia and Rey's hug, I think it also happens because Han had told her who Rey was before they left to save her/sabotage the Starkiller.

Add to that any increase in sorrow felt through the force by either of them, from either one....

You know with Han gone , could there be another sacrifice , chewie and the falcon do the ultimate sacrifice to save someone , I've thought of that too , hope not

So I went to my fourth viewing of TFA today, this time at an IMAX (2D, as 3D doesn't work for me). Maybe it was just the theater itself, but did anyone else feel a bit underwhelmed by the sound quality? I've seen it at Studio Movie Grill and Alamo Drafthouse, and the sound quality was a thousand times better than at the IMAX. Heck, even my car stereo did more justice to the soundtrack than the theater!

I think there's been some issues with the sound in general. I've noticed differences between earlier and later viewings as have others. I've seen it 4 times and the last 2 really noticed the soundtrack being louder.

The 20th Century Fox fanfare was conspicuously absent, but we knew it wouldn't be there. Still, it felt strange to not have it introduce a Star Wars film. But then the Star Wars theme comes on, and at least in the RPX theater I saw TFA in twice--which is renowned for its sound quality--John Williams' classic theme sounded tinny, and weak.

Definitely an inauspicious beginning to the film.

No, I'm not talking about the sound quality of the film in general. I'm talking about the sound quality of the film as shown in an IMAX theater. The quality was stunning in Alamo Drafthouse and Studio Movie Grill, but at the Edwards Marq'E Stadium 23 IMAX here in Houston, it was like going from 5.1 surround sound to desktop 2-speaker systems.
