STAR WARS Rebels new animated series!

Just wanted to know if their have been any canon remark about it. Not saying they are not rank but I like to be open to possibilities. It is the same with the badges on the chest of imperial officers. I keep wondering where it was said they were rank. To me they resemble awards/ribbons. I know that since... well... almost always, they have been said to be rank. But I have to wonder where it came from. Did some author of a novel or RPG source book or video game interpret it and it caught on? Like i said, I like to be open to possibilities.

Looking forward to tonight's episode. It is featuring two things I really like... Hera and rebel star fighters.

I have no idea, I think it came from one of the visual guides maybe? I don't recall seeing it in the old West End RPG books so I don't think it came from that. I think somebody should definitely tweet that question along with the meaning behind the triangle and lines on Kallus' collar.

Very cool episode.!!! The next one looks great too. Like the little Mon Cal dude and the B-wing was cool.

A much better episode this week. The entire opening sequence reminded me of the attack on the Death Star. "Focus all your firepower" "Stay on target" etc.Loved the introduction of the B Wing as well.

I'm thinking Quarrie was named after Ralph McQuarrie or am I just reaching?

http://www.starwars.com/databank/quarrie

Also, the Rebel Recon confirmed our theories of why B-Wings and A-Wings existed but why we did not see them till Return of the Jedi in the OT.

LOL well don't go digging around the databank if you don't want spoilers from "The Force Awakens". I typed in x-wing and was surprised at what came up. No more of that for me until after I see the movie.

Am I nuts or have I seen BG-81 in some other form before? For some reason I sort of remember some sort of small scale model of an early astromech concept that had similar markings but i have been unable to find an image of what I am looking for.

^ i dont believe ive seen a concept r2 like this before. here is a picture of one concept the only thing i can see resemble is the 2 circles

and here is the wooden prototype which was then scrapped and the r2 project moved onto the retired NASA engineers and went all aluminum

I really like Hera and much better episode overall...although I do find it funny that they couldn't seem to figure out to simply go around the Imperial blockade...consisting of a whopping 4 ships.

Also, I guess the new canon is now that the B-wing was single-handedly designed in a garage by a pygmy Mon Calamari and sports a super-duper Death Star laser mode. *sigh* I guess since they're going with the notion of there being multiple Rebel cells (despite it being clearly stated that Yavin 4 is THE rebel base and it's destruction would be the end of the Rebellion), Dodonna is just a moron for not adopting a fighter as ridiculously powerful as the B-wing instead of those lame X-wings and Y-wings. By ANH, he's had 5 years to do so.

Well you could argue that the Bwing is a prototype and that the newly formed rebellion is so strapped for cash they could never afford a fleet of them.

I seem to remember the b-wing doing that "death star" gun before. Was it in the Lego games?

Anyone else notice the music when the B Wing was first being flown? It was a modified version of the Rocketeer theme when Cliff is first taking off in the Gee Bee.
I noticed that too. That whole scene was a big nod to rocketeer. Even the little fly by there.

that one wasn't bad. first one that felt like they actually had to struggle to achieve.

Now that they got a bunch of nameless "red shirts" to throw away they can afford to have some Rebel ships get blow up and people killed off. Previously they only really had the main cast and of course you can't just have them getting blown up trying to run a blockade

B-Wings are not good in a dogfight. Their primary purpose is to strike against capital ships.

I have always been under the impression that the Empire has always underestimated the Rebellion. So just because the Empire believed their was only one rebel base or that all rebels have already amassed their forces on Yavin, it does not make it true.

It's possible but it'd also be shockingly naive of the Empire to think so, if it wasn't the case. Surely the ISB isn't that dense.

It was never stated that the base on Yavin IV was THE Rebel base, if so, where was the fleet that we saw in Empire and Jedi, where was Mon Mothma? It was almost certainly A Rebel base, or maybe one pretending to be THE base, or was the only one that the Empire knew for certain existed. At any rate, rebellion 101 states that you don't put all your eggs in one basket, you set up a cell system and no cell knows anything about where another cell is or anything about its members, this way, if one cell is compromised or its members captured, they can't reveal anything about the other cells. You also don't won't to put your entire organization in one location that would allow an enemy with vastly greater resources, manpower, and firepower to take out and thus completely wipe out your rebellion with one fell stroke.

As for the firepower of the B-Wing, it's super gun wasn't all that powerful and it seemed to be pretty energy intensive to use too. Remember, they weren't going against Star Destroyers, they were only taking light cruisers, cruisers so small that they only had a few turbolaser mounts and couldn't even carry its own TIE complement, and the other light cruiser accompanying it could only carry a few TIEs on the outside of its hull. Even then, it's not like the B-Wing took out the one cruiser with just one shot, it took two strafing shots along its hull to take it out and even then it wasn't instantaneous. So, while it's a potent anti-capital ship fighter, it probably wouldn't be that effective against something as large and heavily armed and shielded as a Star Destroyer. And as MJF has mentioned, it's most likely not a good dogfighter, a TIE fighter would probably run circles around it meaning that it would still require A & X-Wings as escorts.
