STAR WARS Rebels new animated series!

i wasnt being lazy, i was on my ipad at the time. and like i have said before, i work construction for a living, the skin on my hands are very thick, i have a hard time with touch screens. i was just talking with byancd, posting back and forth and asked. i figured he would respond faster then i could type in google.. which i did anyway. if you get this upset over asking a simple question (which i ended up answering myself hence the "edit") then i would hate to see you when something serious goes wrong.. eck!

I'm not upset that you're lazy. I'm quite okay with it. :lol

Has Kallus been promoted since the last time we saw him because I think the stripes on his collar are a different color now although I know that the rank badge is normally worn on the chest. At any rate, I could have sworn that those stripes behind the triangle used to be red but now they're yellow/orange.

That already looks a lot better than anything we've seen in this season so far. What are those new Imperial ships? Cruisers or somesuch? Look fairly small.

Which one? The ones that launched the TIEs or the Star Destroyer looking ones? The ones that launched the TIEs are nothing new and have been shown a number of times before. The other one, after doing a little research, appears to be an Imperial Arquitens class light cruiser.

Yeah, the the SD ones were the ones I was referring to. Are they just reworked ships from TCW?

Apparently so, the same class of ship was used in TCW but called a Jedi Cruiser instead and painted differently as well. There's also some slight differences in the design to suggest that the design was modified some for later flghts and/or modified when they entered Imperial Navy service. There's plenty precedence for this in real life where the design changes in appearance some over the course of its production life where ships of a given class produced early in the classes' life look different than ones produced later and sometimes older ships in a class will receive modifications to receive some of the systems incorporated in their younger 'siblings' which result in them looking different from when they were originally produced. A good example of this are the Los Angeles class of nuclear attacks submarine, the class originally had their dive planes mounted on the sail (conning tower) but with later production models these were moved down to the front of the hull. An example of an older ship looking different than when it first came on line is the carrier USS Midway, it was commissioned around late/the end of WW II and was conventional in appearance for its time, but by the time it retired it was modified to have an angled deck so that it looked sort of like a smaller version of a modern nuclear powered aircraft carrier.

I like the idea of using older ships, especially for more backwater areas. I think seeing a star destroyer should be a big deal, with a variety of these Imperial cruisers and other types being perhaps more commonplace in most regions.

Is there anything that states the collar insignia are rank? Could they be unit affiliation or sector location?

Same here, it's nice to see a little variety in the Imperial fleet, esp. when in ANH Han mentions outrunning fast Corellian(?) made Imperial cruisers as opposed to another kind of, slower, cruiser. It's also nice to see a ship that doesn't just looks like a scaled up or down Star Destroyer either, as most EU Imperial ships tended to look like, granted the Arquitens is kind of Star Destroyer looking but it's clearly different while maintaining a similar look.

I have no idea since by ANH those collar insignia disappear from Imperial uniforms. I know that Kallus has the usual rank badge on his armor but I can't recall if he has one on his uniform though, if he doesn't then the collar insignia could be his rank insignia. I really don't know quite what to make of those as I can't even figure out how they're supposed to be done in real life, are they supposed to be embroidered, silk screened, or are they pins?

I still want to know why the ISB uniforms in Rebels are not remotely the ISB uniforms from ANH...

Two things come to mind, one is that the ISB uniforms aren't actually ISB uniforms, it's not like it was actually said on screen at any point that characters in those uniforms belonged to the ISB.

The other possibility is that the ISB changed uniforms between Rebels and ANH, it's not like millitaries don't change uniform designs periodically. The uniform that we see in Rebels could have been in service since shortly after the foundation of the Empire so by ANH it wouldn't be an abnormally short amount of time for a uniform change. Alternatively, the uniform we see Kallus wear could be a field uniform worn by agents in the field while those we saw on the Death Star in ANH is a service dress uniform for wear while in garrison.

Just wanted to know if their have been any canon remark about it. Not saying they are not rank but I like to be open to possibilities. It is the same with the badges on the chest of imperial officers. I keep wondering where it was said they were rank. To me they resemble awards/ribbons. I know that since... well... almost always, they have been said to be rank. But I have to wonder where it came from. Did some author of a novel or RPG source book or video game interpret it and it caught on? Like i said, I like to be open to possibilities.

Looking forward to tonight's episode. It is featuring two things I really like... Hera and rebel star fighters.

i think this last episode was great. i love how the bwing is painted orange like most experimental aviation parts

Something I really did not notice on the clip on YouTube, but was more apparent on my HD big screen; During the opening battle sequence, the shot from behind Kanan as he fired on the TIEs from the gunner station was done in such a way that it really captured the same feel of when Luke and Han manned the guns of the Falcon.
