STAR WARS Rebels new animated series!

Eh, I thought it was a pretty weak for a season opener. Don't really like how they are trying to shoe-horn TCW characters into this series and the "fishing" sequence was pretty cheesy. Maybe I missed it but why would Rex, Wolffe and Gregor choose to live their retirement years on such a desolate planet eating giant worms?

You dont see why clones, who disobeyed a direct order from the Emperor himself, might want to keep a low profile? Plus, after ignoring Order 66, I doubt they got an honorable discharge and were sent on their merry way. They most likely went AWOL. Not to mention that clones who were created strictly for the purpose of fighting probably arent seen as autonomous beings, but property of the Republic\Empire and as such have no standing to simply leave the service of the Emperor.

Its not the season opener. That was the Seige of Lothal double episode a couple of months back.

Well I would guess 3 clones out of an army of millions(?) wouldn't be readily noticed if they decided to ignore orders in the chaos of Order 66. Rex just says something along the lines that their services were no longer needed so I figured the remaining clones were all dismissed and dispersed. Unless there was some sort of clone purge...Anyway, Wolffe didn't seem to have any qualms calling the Empire's attention to themselves, which would be odd behavior if they were supposed to be hiding as deserters.

Oh okay. I thought that was just some special setting the stage for season 2, not the beginning of season 2 itself.

Actually the DVR guide had it labeled as season 2 episode 1...at least on Verizon

Yeah it is a bit confusing because of the fact Seige of Lothal was shown as a separate special but StarWars.com has it listed as Season 2 episodes 1&2. See pic below. It's the same thing that happened in the first season where episodes 1&2 were the Spark of Rebellion movie type premier. I think it's going to be tradition for each season.

To me, it us more cumbersome to bring in people like Lando from the OT. Many of the characters in the OT like Han, Lando, and Boba fett (or other esb bounty hunters) entered the story by accident. So when we tie them into this earlier than their official "entrance" it gets awkward and the galaxy gets smaller.

I think that's about right. LFL was pretty clear about Season 1 having 13 episodes. If you include the movie (like IMDB did), it then becomes 14. To further complicate matters, it becomes 15 if you break the movie down to two parts.

I think it is best to think of the movies like Spark and Siege as Season Premiere Events as opposed to Season Premiere Episodes just to make it understandable.

I liked the episode. Not my favorite but it is most likely going to be important and I liked knowing what happened to some of the well known clones and what they went through. Still a lot of questions. Rex said something like, "These are not the Jedi who betrayed us." I would have expected a remark like "These are not the Jedi we (as in the clones as a whole) betrayed." Not sure what that remark means since it appears they know about the true nature of Order 66. So is there an event(s) regarding Jedi and clones we do not yet know?

I also found it interesting Rex made the remark of something like, "I didn't turn on my Jedi." Which is weird because it was Anakin.

I have to wonder if the list of old bases includes places like Dantooine, Yavin, and Hoth. If so, then episode has farther reaching significance than just the series.

i think he said something along the lines of "It was not the Jedi who betrayed us" as a sort of reference to the Empire as being the betrayer.

No, the Jedi could have been fully aware of it. It makes sense that they would know exactly what the emergency orders were. They just said "Well we would never do that, so not a problem." I'm sure the Pentagon has a plan if a crazy President decided to take over, but no one thinks that would ever happen. As for the clones reacting so quickly, the regular clones supposedly were flash trained to obey all orders originating from the proper chain of command without question. The commanders, commandos, ARCs, etc. had more freewill so maybe some of them did disobey. Of course we don't have any examples of that now because the old EU is gone. It's too bad the Clone Wars ended before Order 66 because they could have shown something like that happening.

What episode? Someone else said that, but I don't remember it. I did miss that last group of shows on Netflix, so maybe it was on that.

i think it was a three episode arc. It was very well done. This is the problem of discussing Star Wars canon when people either by choice or hapistance haven't seen all the canon.

Actual lines:

Wolffe: But he's a Jedi. A Jedi!
Rex: I know. I know, but they're not the ones who betrayed us. Remember Wolffe? Remember?

Totally agree. Sure it was fun to have Billy Dee Williams reprise the role, but having Lando rubbing elbows with our heroes in Rebels was pretty silly and unlikely in this huge galaxy. I wasn't crazy about C-3PO's and R2's cameo either.

I would much rather have Billy dee in the new movie than on rebels
