The series has grown on me, but I was a really big fan of the Clone Wars except Clone Trooper storylines. I never cared for them, so this episode was just so-so.
I've got to say, the 'control chip' was really forced, like midiclorians (explained something that didn't need explaining) or Greedo shooting first (of course the Clones would have never been cold-blooded if they had free-will).
From a story telling standpoint it makes perfect sense, I would have done it too if I was the Emperor, but it was still forced and heavy-handed.
I thought so too.Was it just me or was the music during the "fishing" scene heavily reminiscent of the music from Jaws when Quint, Brody, and Hooper we're trying to hook the shark? I chuckled.
If the only thing about the clones that existed were the movies, then I could buy the "It was just an order" concept. But when you develop TCW TV show and create a bond between clones and their Jedi Generals, its hard to believe that the Clones would turn so fast and without question. Especially an order with a number. Sixty-Six of what? Where is this list. How can the clones read a list of numbered orders and the Jedi never see or hear of it. It only makes sense it is a built in order.

Even though we hear and read interviews for people like George and Dave and they tell us their intent in their decisions, it gives us a good idea of how things work, but it is not canon. It is not canon until it makes it way into the story. So always take interviews and story notes with a grain of salt.
It's also wrong since Lucas said Order 66 wasn't programmed into them, it was just an order. This is the crap I don't like where they think they can change things that Lucas himself created. I don't care if you change things that you create going forward, but what Lucas had a hand in creating should be left alone. I think it makes the clone's decision to not follow Order 66 or defect a greater thing because they exercised free will and not just took a chip out. That's what I liked about the Republic Commando books, that Skirata emphasized to the clones that they were men, they mattered, and they should have free will.
Otherwise I thought the episode was pretty cool, particularly Kanan's reaction to the clones and Ahsoka emphasizing that he trust them.

The chips were established in the CW which GL produced, so they are GL canon as he created them.
No, the Jedi could have been fully aware of it. It makes sense that they would know exactly what the emergency orders were. They just said "Well we would never do that, so not a problem." I'm sure the Pentagon has a plan if a crazy President decided to take over, but no one thinks that would ever happen. As for the clones reacting so quickly, the regular clones supposedly were flash trained to obey all orders originating from the proper chain of command without question. The commanders, commandos, ARCs, etc. had more freewill so maybe some of them did disobey. Of course we don't have any examples of that now because the old EU is gone. It's too bad the Clone Wars ended before Order 66 because they could have shown something like that happening.
