STAR WARS Rebels new animated series!

Just because you can't see a character doing something specific doesn't mean that said character isn't capable of it. Of all the things that I would consider to be out of character for someone like Luke Skywalker, being in a romantic relationship isn't one of them. His entire source of motivation is all stemmed from wanting to ensure the well being of his friends and family. One mention of wanting to turn Leia to the dark side sets him off like a bomb. You think married couples don't get that worked up when their significant other is threatened?

It would still be worth seeing because it would show Luke is taking the new Jedi in another direction than the Prequel era Jedi. He could even address it telling someone that attachments don't make you weaker, but more strong. Something like that anyway.

sorry for steering further off topic but i'm still with george on that one...
i doubt they'll be shoehorning in alot of legends material to make it all canon again, eh?

There is no reason story-wise that Mara should make an appearance in the new canon. She would add little to nothing to Rebels or the Star Wars franchise as it stands.

Simon Kinberg Hints at 'Rebels' Characters "Feeding into Future Movies"[/h]
Simon-Kinberg.png

By: Dominic Jones

Simon Kinberg, executive producer of Star Wars Rebels, spoke with Moviefonerecently and hinted at some future connections between the animated series and the live action Star Wars movies. Kinberg spoke about how they went about integrating Rebels into the current Star Wars canon by including classic Star Wars characters as well as bringing in characters from the previous animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars in recurring roles in Season Two. He also alluded to the fact that you might see some characters from Rebels show up in the future movies. Kinberg said,

"What's lovely is, obviously, we've brought in characters from 'Clone Wars' in the second season, and we keep sort of bringing characters from the original movies and sort of deepening the relationships between our core characters, the Ghost crew. So it's trying to balance the two different things, like the original cast from the first season with 'Clone Wars,' with characters from the original movies, and maybe even feeding into future movies."
To be fair, Kinberg has been suggesting there are connections between Rebels and the new movies since before Season One. Which was true to an extent. There weren't any ground shaking crossovers that some fans were hoping for. This was due in large part to the fact that Rebels is set over 30 years before the events of The Force Awakens, making such crossovers difficult. However, with Rogue One being set in roughly the same time period as Rebels, it seems more likely for it to become a reality this season. There is also the groundbreaking news that Forest Whitaker is playing Saw Gerrera, a character who first appeared on The Clone Wars, in Rogue One. Having a character jump from an animated series to the films is unprecedented and opens the door for more characters to make the conversion. Could we see a cameo by the crew of The Ghost in Rogue One? Well, now more than ever, anything is possible.

No Jedi in movie until Luke! That would really cheapen Obi Wan going back into action and Luke showing up. I think that's what makes Obi Wan defending Luke in the cantina so cool, is that it's like the first time people have seen a lightsaber since the Clone Wars. It's like "We're done hiding..."

The thing is, kanan and Ezra are canon. So they exist. But I highly doubt that rebels will give them the fate that they probably should have.

But rogue one could. Or some other standalone flick

I never saw it that way myself. that was 'our' introduction jedi and the lightsaber. You could argue Kanan made the same move 'we're done hiding' in E3 or 4 of rebels when he pulled his saber for the first time and stunned the imperials with it, telling ezra 'i'm about to let everyone in on the secret'.

The alternative would seem to be that vader and the emperor were 99% effective in wiping out the jedi only failing in what both Vader and the Emperor would consider to be the biggest threats: Obi-wan and Yoda. I'd wager a few more survived as well. What happened to them? Who knows. They're still finding germans who escaped prosecution after WWII and that's been 70 years. So it's not like it'd be too hard for a few to have escaped and stay hidden for 15-20 years, or longer.

How about they add some new characters? I'm not against mace returning but how about waiting ten years or so? They are seriously blowing their wad on rebels
