STAR WARS Rebels new animated series!

considering the fact that timothy zahn basically made this generation of star wars possible and practically revived the franchise with three little books..

mara and thrawn are as much a part of star wars as luke and lea to me.

I'm not hoping, but Mara would be incredibly easy to reintegrate into the new canon. Pretty much the only thing you would need to throw out is anything post ROTJ. Her being an Imperial agent could still fit.

Except we're talking rebels - pre ANH. If she and Luke are the same age, that'd make her maybe 16 at this point in rebels. A trainee at the very most.

she to me is the very first inquisitor

RIght, she is still young but the same age roughly as Ezra and he is out there kicking ass. I was hoping that the first image we saw of the masked 7th Sister that it might have been Mara but I knew most likely it was not.

People are talking like she'd be an officer or agent or inquisitor. Not at Ezra's age (he's more like 14-5). Even at that Ezra is still more or less on the low end of the totem pole on his own ship.

Unless Mara is making a big appearance in E8, i'd see no point in adding her to Rebels as there's nothing to build on to the character where people think it goes (her/luke)

yeah i wonder if the inquisitors have her and showing her the ropes

Yeah I'm against adding Eu stuff just for the nostalgia. They have done a good job of adding where it will fit. I trust them to make their choices.

Ezra is two days older than Luke and Leia. Ezra was born on the original Empire Day, and Luke and Leia was born after (2 days according to the canon section of Wookieepedia).

Ezra turned 15 during the episode "Empire Day" which was in mid season 1. Not sure how much time went by from then till the end of season two but I would say he is now closer to 16.

Young people in the Star Wars universe accomplish a lot.

And no, they don't treat him as low end of the totem pole.

From the lore, the Emperor found Mara while she was still young. Maybe the Inquisitor thing was deemed a failure and a new program of solo Emperor's Hands was started, each trained in isolation and ignorant of the existence of the others. Or maybe both programs went on in parallel, part of how the Emperor doesn't put all his eggs in one basket.

I meant just adding her back into the fold general, not necessarily in Rebels. I'm more interested in them using weapons, ships, vehicles, and planets from the old EU more than adding old characters back. There's still some gold in those areas. I do think that some characters can still fit into the new EU though (RC Omega Squad, hint hint). I'd actually like to see some former Republic Commandos working as Rebels like Rex and the other commanders.

the only thing depressing about introducing mara now is that A)luke and she probably arn't and never had been married.

Or B)Her death is one of the reasons he went into exile.

If it's B)It'll still so closely follow the plot of th ebooks that there was no need to erase continuity.

I look at the old UE characters, places, etc. as the way they use old comic stories in today's superhero movies. Sometimes a character or event is introduced totally different way. So if Thrawn, Mara, etc.. do reappear, their story may be quite different.

Or, maybe the Emperor wanted agents/operatives that were loyal to him personally and less so to an intermediary like Vader, just in case Vader decided to try to overthrow him. It's not unheard of for troops to be more loyal to their commanders than their commander in chief/head of state; this was sort of the case during WW II where it could be argued that elements of the SS were more loyal to Himmler than Hitler and certainly during the Roman Empire where the troops were often more loyal to their legionarry commander(s) than the Emperor himself. So by training a Hand/Hand(s) that report to him personally, the Emperor helps to ensure that he has people that don't report to anybody else and are thus loyal to himself personally.

I think that's how it will happen. I would think they would keep Thrawn an Imperial Capt. and Mara an Imperial agent (maybe not Emperor's hand). I don't think they would reintroduce them and, for example, make Mara a bartender.

Well honestly, what Lucas thinks matters very little at this point when it comes to Star Wars, Disney has made that much clear.
