Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi (tv series)

Jaxon. And I think there have been Lepi in the new canon. But there's the thing -- before the Disney sale, George always reserved the right to overrule (or use) anything in the ancillary material. Early on -- when it was just the Marvel comics and a smattering of novels/novellas -- it was all just Star Wars. After the Star Wars Renaissance of the early '90s, there came to be the distinction that the films were "more legit" than the other stuff. It was all still tacitly "canon until it isn't" (by the stroke of George's pen).

After the Disney sale, with all that EU stuff from the before time now being instead a "not canon until it is" grab bag of potential material, all the stuff that's been published after the sale has been on exactly the same level as the films and TV series, not to be overwritten. That "canon until it isn't" isn't a thing any more. Any continuity differences are just straight-up "Klingons have bumpy foreheads now" level retcons.

P.S. I want Hoojibs, dammit.

I still prefer to err on the side of caution given who we are dealing with lol.

I did always assume that the movies are the true canon and any secondary material (comics, books, games) unless explicitly stated to be non-canon are canon unless they contrast with the movies. This, the force awakens novella is arguably non-canon because it’s buildup contradicts TLJ.

Also given the fact that Kennedy seems to have minimal awareness of anything other than the movies and maybe the cartoons given her statement to Rolling Stone, I’m not sure how much stock we can put into the old comics (pre-M&A) being canon.

Thanks for the Jaxxon correction!

That’s one character I’d flip over if they brought him into live action with the TV series.

After fighting off the marauders, Owen socks Obi. Owen is hostile to Obi because he doesn’t want him training Luke and have him go down the same path as Anakin. Owen does care for Luke like a son although he seems to show it in a poor 70s Red Foreman sort of way.

Owen was once quoted as telling Luke "You better be out tending those moisture vaporators by dawn or I'm going to put my foot up your *ss!"

Yay! More speculation about additions to future Star Wars content that lessen my interest and goodwill towards anything with the name Star Wars on it! Amazing how one man has managed to get his greasy little fingers into every era and aspect of Star Wars. Can’t have anything new or old without it tying back into the “Filoni-verse”.

I saw that casting news, but didn't even think it could be for Dutchess Satine.

After seeing her in LUTHER, HUMAN TARGET, & GoT, this sounds like perfect casting if it turns out to be true. Her story in the Mandalorian arcs were some of the most well done.

I've been a fan of Indira Varma for a long time, so I hope she really has been cast in this show, whatever role she's playing.

It all comes from the worship of self. Just watch the nightly news and about half of it is nothing more than celebrity gossip. Add social media to the mix and you have an entire generation of self involved narcissists who think posting their feelings will garner meaningful status. I'm often ashamed to even have a Facebook account and at times I'm just as guilty of it.

Fan speculation is just another extension of that. What used to consist of a few people debating the merits of a given property around a dining room table during a break of an intense D&D campaign, has now become a cottage industry unto itself. Nerds just have platforms now when 20 years ago only nerds cared about this stuff. It's become trendy to be a geek which in a lot of ways is infuriating because those of us who got bullied for it were essentially harassed for being ahead of the curve, although we were never into it to be cool. Which is why sites like Collider and other shill media are a joke because they only got involved when they figured out they could capitalize on it.

Honestly this makes too much sense. It’s definitely not every Bob, Dick, and Harry giving their opinions on theories on what is coming next but such media “theorizing” has become popular consumable content which can be seen by Youtube.

The great thing about this content is it can basically be done by anyone (there arnt any certifications or credentials that bar people from being a Star Wars or so-and-so franchise “expert”). Another great thing is you don’t need to do research, just speculate based on limited or no information. If you are wrong, doesn’t matter because it’s just a theory. If you are right, wow that’s amazing. Come see more of my predictions since I got it right once so I can do it again.
