Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi (tv series)

At this point I'm most curious about how we get from where things stand at the end of the last episode to the status quo in ANH.

If Reva is starting to put together that Obi Wan is protecting Anakin's kids, the question is which side does she fall on with that info?
What happens that diverts Vader from his obsession with finding Obi Wan?

They've got some work to do in order to land things just right.

I'm enjoying the show, but I will admit it has problems.
My biggest problem with this episode was--an army is trying blast down the door. We've got to take off the second the hanger door opens.....Maybe we should all actually get in the ship instead of just milling around outside, therefore taking another ten minutes to lift off!

You mean, how the fact that Luke is 10 and there will be a 9 year gap to fill in, in one more episode? which is why they will milk it for a season 2 and justify their great success with the most watch Disney plus program ever. It's quite obvious Reva will be portrayed as the hero here. They won't land right especially because they didn't take off right...They can't overcome the whole Kenobi leaving Luke to meet Leia when THEY NEVER MET. Not, only the pit they dug with having Kenobi meet Vader before ANH. I can't wait to see how they try to explain that little blunder. This is sure to be nominated as the comedy of the year("last time i left you, i was but the learner now i am the master") SO...they will be meeting in the Finale? or somewhere in season 2? Because the last time the met, Obi gets dragged through fire then escapes...

Good Morning to everyone on the thread. I pray you all have a great day, a lot of fun and despite our disagreements I still love you all. Life is short and I realize any one of us here could be gone at any time. I have to think about that as you all are real people behind your logos with real hearts and hope that fact resonates with all of us as we talk to one another. Each one of your lives is precious and valuable and just wanted you all to know that.

Good morning everyone - hope your day is going well too - lots of distressing things going on in the real world, but at least we are still here. I enjoyed the commentary from you all yesterday, even when I disagreed (and couldn't type lol). The posts made me smile, and think (especially what could possibly connect the dots more by season 2, unless we get a super special edition at some point). Thank you all for not turning this thread into a Tarryltons ad, while discussing the things that work, and could be changed in this series (including talking through thick metal doors, in a low voice)

I got a The Last Jedi battle on the salt planet vibe—but on a lower production budget—from the whole, “let’s hide behind the doors in the stronghold while the baddies try to blast the door open with a canon”.

you are right - I am not sure how this can all work. but willing to see where this goes.

The only way I can seeing them reconcile that Leia doesn't seem to know who Ben is in ANH is if he wipes her memory of what happened. Of course since that seems logical it will never happen and we will be left with another big question mark.

All I know is, there is still one more episode left to give “You’ll Be Dead Guy” his cameo…bonus points if he’s with his ol’ pal, “Baboon-Butt-Face McSpoon-Hands”….

Make my Star Wars Dreams (tm) come true, Disney….make them come true…

I don't think it's as dire as all that, and I'm sure they will tie themselves in knots to make sure whatever happens fits within some version of what the OT dialogue could be interpreted to mean.

That's the fun thing about the OT, they left a lot of background stuff vague knowing that viewers would be able to fill in the holes with their imagination, and never expected Star Wars to be a thing 45 years on.

I get the impression that some of us are mad this even exists, and I don't get it at all. It's more Star Wars. "Well we didn't need it!" Some of you say, but Star Wars is like pizza. Even bad pizza is still pizza, and I'll take as much as I can stomach.

Not entirely out of the question...lol. Darth Revan ring a bell? I actually love KOTOR story line

agreed, but if only it was still left to our imagination. I love pizza too, but not all btw. quick funny story. I grew up in a town that had a New York Pizza place. As a kid it was the best pizza i've ever had. 36 yrs later i went back and the place was still there. I ordered some pizza, put it in my mouth and it was like a time machine...tasted exactly the same as i remember it. I felt like the food critic guy on Ratatouille...lol. Now, i drive 45 minutes to an hour just to get that pizza. I tell you this because it's just like the OT to me. There's pizza...then there's PIZZA!!! Cowabunga dude!!! lol

I think this is the reason people get so twisted about these shows. They've built up a collective imagining of what took place, and now this challenges it. Their whole understanding of the imagined world, in their minds from their childhood, comes crumbling down.

Imagine how many different"kids" and "adults" have different visions of what may have happened or not...You are acting like collectively we all have one vision for Star Wars when in fact Disney, selfishly decided to create their vision for everyone else...now their vision has become your vision. It is not shared by many of us. The OT was Georges vision and story...it was HIs. He shared it with us. The reason we are Star Wars fans is because we accepted that vision and it was done...for many many years. I do not understand why so many on here choose to cut off their own nose to spite their face. We wouldn't even be talking about this had not the OT been made. That is established. Now, to say because this show doesn't line up with George's vision in ANH, that somehow it flies in the face of our imaginations is confusing at best. If it doesn't line up with the STORY then it doesn't line up...has nothing to do with imaginations. Imagination comes into play when it isn't defined and millions of fans have different imaginations. I never once imagined Kenobi leaving Luke on Tatooinne and somehow taking Leia under his wing when it was defined in ANH that it never happened. I'm not talking about the PT , and it didn't even get inferred to there. If people on here accept Disney's narrative that contradicts ANH, then great, i'm truly happy you have chosen to believe a false narrative but i do not and cannot. You can't honestly say THIS show was already in your imagination with a straight face...no one can...

Very few would object to them telling new stories that took place elsewhere with different characters and scenarios. Yet they keep banking on nostalgia. Leave the saga characters alone and go elsewhere. Their stories are long over. This show runs into the same problem the EU had by the end of its run. Filling in gaps where it's evident that none of these characters ever knew even a moment's peace. It's like demanding blood from a stone.

Frankly I never gave much thought to the 20 year gap between trilogies. I just assumed Obi-Wan kept watch over Luke from a safe distance but now it's necessary to know about every waking moment of these characters lives. I'm just waiting for the Kenobi series where he undergoes an age appropriate colonoscopy. Imperial spies also have appointments with the same doctors and trouble ensues.

I would love to see a "faithful" version of the Heir to the Empire saga. Of course I wouldn't want Disney within a 1000 parsecs of it. But alas they have the rights I imagine. That's a great story IMHO. Fits in very well with OT Star Wars. At least I felt very Star Warzy while reading it. Love Thrawn. A worthy successor to Vader. Oh well, one can dream. And Disney stay away, I warn you ! ; )

To be fair. George started that trend with the Prequels. Then he stomped all over the EU with his Clone Wars multimedia project. And was set to do it again, when he suddenly out of the blue decided 'hey I want there to be Sequels, but I ain't going make them.'(blindsiding even those who worked at Lucasfilm) Disney/Lucasfilm/Dave Filoni has just inherited that mantle, by virtue of sale of Lucasfilm to Disney and George Lucas retiring.

Disney, selfishly decided to create their vision for everyone else.
This confirms what I said. This isn't selfish. It's the same thing George did with PT and the CW cartoons. Expanding the story. Somehow when George does it, it's okay, but Disney is the bad guy?

If it doesn't line up with the STORY then it doesn't line up...has nothing to do with imaginations.
Doesn't line up with what? That Leia never meet Kenobi? That's not explicitly stated, and I can find arguments about if they had or hadn't as far back as 2018 with a quick search. This is to my point, it's fans creating their own narratives, and when they are challenged the reaction is understandably negative.
