After building a Rey fantasy saber I got the bug to create some original props. Here is an "in the style of Star Wars" Scanner.

The found parts work together and mimic the placement of parts we see on the one in the film
Looks like it was built by the competition to the company that made the one Solo used.
The flashing light is not overpowering, just right.
Construction looks solid.
