I was wrong earlier.

I just got off the phone with Chronicle Books and they said that the death star IS the cover for the 2nd edition. They didn't mention a slipcase though.

Here are some pics of the 2nd USA edition with the slipcase:

To add to the confusion my edition only has 1997 for the print date with no mention of being a 2005 reprint or a "2nd edition". :lol

BTW I bought it new and still in its shrink wrap.

Either way.....its a great book and I highly recommend it to anyone. :D

Whoops.. I meant same book different slip case. Mine doesn't mention 2nd edition anywhere either. It just references the original japanese edition and the original american edition inside....

I have the one on the left and it's an "American/English" version. ISBN 0-8118-1498-X "Original Japanese Edition by Take Shobo... English text by Deborah Fine. It's an American release.

I have the same one as you and Alan, but mine's not signed unfortunately :(

I kind of regret getting mine defaced for want of a better word, as im not sure it adds to the value of the book and besides ive often heard mentioned that if you meet someone famous and get an autograph you should also get a picture which sadly i didnt do.
i had a fantastic 18 month period during my time with the 501st where i seemed to be wineing and dining with all the stars from the StarWars Universe and managed to pick up the signatures, i missed out on Carrie Fishers twice :unsure

Well if you want to swap then? ;) No.. yours would have greater value then mine as long as there authentic sigs which they look to be. Obviously getting pics with a signature is better but hey...

I just got the Prequel version and it's not too bad. I was scared away by the price a few years ago, when I flicked through it at the book store, but it is affordable now.

My OT Chronicles still gets flicked through daily now. It's the 1997 Gold slip cover version, ISBN 0-8118-1498-X.

I missed out on the prequel version of Chronicles for $40, no word of a lie. The bookstore selling them was clearing them out and I missed it by like two days. :(

I really like my OT version. It's hands down my favorite book in my collection.
