yeah I agree the older art actually looks much better. Even the SE artwork that was made for the OT looks great overall. It just seems these films have been dramatically cheapened by these photoshop collages over time. There's no homage to the beautiful work done by these artists for the posters from the 70's-90's. It's a real shame because their attention to character placement and color and form was just really amazing. I think among my favorite poster designs were these:

regardless though I'm still VERY much looking forward to this Blu-Ray release and am nevertheless excited. I just think the packaging choice stinks like a lot of Blu-Ray converted artwork from the original posters, or lack thereof the original poster art...

they have deleted scenes and reworked everything (studio definition of "everything") and they probubly have a hayden at the end again but they've remastered the deleted scenes to not be sucky in quality and everything reworked to a point good enough to be put on blu ray

Look the SE were made as an experiment to see if the tech matched the "vision" for the prequels.

Isn't the entire point of a prequel to fit into what came before it? If you have to change the original material so that it would fit the prequel material you plan on making, you're not making a prequel. You're making a revision.

You shouldn't have to change a single thing from the original movies if you plan on making a prequel that's supposed to honor it.

I wonder if anyone over at Lucasfilm ever asked us what we would like to see on a Star Wars set. Some DVD/BluRay producers over at the home theater forum sometimes ask those questions, like Van Ling asking what we would like to see on the Abyss BluRay set if it's ever produced. All I asked for was a commentary by James Cameron (Or the text commentary carried over) and that the BluRay to be presented in Anamorphic Widescreen.

Hehe. I can't believe that release was in Non-Anamorphic Widescreen.

And I have no doubt if Marcia Lucas and Gary Kurtz were part of the prequels (and to some extent, ROTJ) those films would have been way better.

No, not even a little. That said, to look for nefarious plot twists in the workings of the Lucas Machine where there are none IS overthinking it. It all comes down to money and what Lucas wants. Anything else is just ludicrous.

The following is not meant to attack or challange anyone. Your vocal posts even conflcting to others only demonstrates our common love of Star Wars, otherwise we would not care about any of this to post. You have your own passions and opinions and I respect that, so I hope you can respect that I have my own as well.

Not all Star Wars fans want the same thing. Just because one, two, a hundred, a thousand fans want something done a certain way or have a particular opinion about it does not mean it goes for all fans. I am huge SW fan and I just do not have problems with most of what is being complained about here. I want SW on Blu-Ray, so I am buying the set. It is just that simple for me. If later LFL decides to put out another set and if there is something about it that I feel it merits owning, I'll buy that, if not... it will be a pass.

With the exception of Han not shooting first, I love the changes and FX updates (I want CGI ewoks... or at least give them CGI eyelids. Those bug eyes give me the creeps ). I do not care about the pre-SE so much although I know a lot of people do. However I would like for the original editions to be included in a set for collectible/nostalgia/completest purposes. Do I have personal opinions about what should be done to the movies to make them better? Yes. I've love to see an extended edition (ones with deleted scenes added back in, even if GL thinks it slows done the story). I would love for the last scene of ROTJ to be a quiet shot of sands of Tatooine scanning the debris of the battle around the Sarlaac pit and then a close up shot of Fett's hand grasping for the edge (like someone hand bursting through the dirt of their grave in those classic horror movies). Pink lightsaber? meh, not going to bother me. What does bother me is during ROTJ final duel, Luke's lightsaber (stunt )blade casts a shadow on the floor.

However I am not going to jump on the GL hate wagon or say all he cares about is money just because I do not get my way. And for that reason alone, GL will always have my appreciation.

Lucas gave me Star Wars.
I saw it when i was 10.
It's more important to me now 34 years later.

I still don't get the people who (apparently) really dislike this or that element of the SE, the PT, the DVDs, etc., and yet still feel compelled to spend their money -- even when they have the films in 15 other formats already, and even when Spike or USA reruns the HD versions on TV periodically. If you don't like something, why spend your cash?

As for Lucas, he's not a bad guy. He and I just have a different sense of what makes a good story these days. No biggie. He can tell whatever stories he wants, and I'll spend my money on what I find entertaining.
