Star Wars blu ray in September

Look, this is pretty damn simple actually, right? We can all agree that the DVDs look like ass, correct? The HDTV rips also, by nature of their heritage, look like ass. The promise of BR was to provide something that DOESN'T look like ass. Guess what, it looks like the SAME ASS only really close up. George's ass...there, deal with that nightmare tonight.
It's not a matter of some stuff being fixed and not all of it to my satisfaction, it's a matter of a pretty basic fraud LFL has perpetrated here - all they've done is the few shots which they implied pretty heavily were indicitive of the treatment the movie recieved during this process. Which is fine, excpet it's all been spin. Until you actually see these discs you literally will not believe how few of the problems they attempted to fix. Once you get past those 6 shots or whatever they are, nothing has been fixed, virtually every thing you hated about the DVDs? You're gonna hate it here too. And don't worry, there's pleanty of new stuff along the very same lines to hate too. Did you say you wanted straight out PURPLE lightsabers in RotJ? You got it! Instead of fixing the stuff everyone called them on last time, they've spent the time dicking around and comping digital rocks in front of R2 because...HEY, LOOK OVER THERE!!!! And, only, you know, sometimes, not consistently. Becuase bothering to see if a change is consistent throughout a sequence you're screwing with for no decernible reason is, you know, hard. Or something.
You guys have moved effortlessly from "Oh yeah, how do you KNOW they look like poo? I'm gunna buy them, 'cause the lightsabers be all dun fixed and stuff! WOOHOO!" to "Haha, people who expect BR releases NOT to look like poo, (particularly when the poo-ness has been detailed for 7 years now) are silly" :confused Wha? Which is it guys? Wasn't the essential selling point of this set that it would have a superb presentation? Isn't that just what you were saying? That they had learned from their mistakes and were making it all better now? For reals this time?
No kidding I'm sorely dissapointed with this development. As you've marginally correctly pointed out, I'm not even talking about the questionable creative choices here. That's a whole other discussion which doesn't even need to be delved into as far as I'm concerned because the basic presentation of the movies is sorely lacking. But it's okay, I'm just DONE now with the whole thing. I...I'm sorry, George, I want to start seeing other IPs. It's not you, it's...well no, actually, it is you.
Look, you're obviously very happy fanbois who are going to buy this dreck regardless, just don't crucify me becuase I happen to have expected better treatment for these seminal movies, and maybe one iota of QC. They look terrible, they sound terrible, and with Lucasfilm saying that they've slaved away on these for three years now, they didn't have to. It's a basic contempt for the audience who is the intended buyer that this crap is being brought to market as is. Interestingly they're just now starting to try some damage controll and are releasing statments along the lines of PLEASE! WE KNOW THE CHANGES ARE STUPID BUT PLEASE BUY THESE REGARDLESS! YOU'LL LOVE HOW IT TIES THE WHOLE SAGA TOGETHER! PLEEEEEEEEEASSSEEE!
Whew...yeah, that ended up being a teeny bit longer than I anticipated....man, I HATE how this crap brings out the worst in me. :eek

ANYways, back to makin' rayguns and spaceships...for fun and relaxation, you know?

This deal is getting worse all the time:

More Changes to the Star Wars Original Trilogy on Blu-Ray, Including the Attack on the Death Star!

Who here already preordered the blu-rays from Amazon?

I did. I cheated though and used Amazon points. Otherwise I would give serious consideration to canceling my order.

Although not pleased with some of the changes, like the rock R2 hides behiNd and the NOOOOOOO, some don't bother me like the Ewoks blinking, or Jabba's really big door. But man, I hope the video quality doesn't suck as badly as i fear it might.

Sigh.

Sooo, anyone here from Utah planning on buying the Blu-Rays?

I just heard a local retailer is going to be offering the complete saga for $40.

The catch is you will have to dress up in a Star Wars costume at the midnight launch.

Anyways, glad to be back.

If I had a wish list of things to change, at the top would be to get rid of that explosive-ring around Alderaan and the Death Star when they explode.

They added that for the SE's after Star Trek seemed to make it popular. I never liked it, but it didn't ruin the movie for me.

The wave affect does not both me but I have always been curious why it was a ring. I would think it should be a sphere shaped wave. Why in space would it be limited to a a 2D (so to speak) direction? But then again, I am not any sort of expert on space, explosions, or physics so I could be way off base.

Anyone hear if they fixed the stunt blade shadow in the final duel in ROTJ. Am I the only one who that bothers? It is weird because I tend not to be bothered by a lot of the stuff discussed here. But the one thing that does bother me, no one else seems to talk about.

Oh, I can see where that'd bother you if you notice it. Mostly because it screams "slipshod work."
