Star Trek XI question about a prop (spoiler alert)

Okay I admit I am not a big model ship fan but I am curious if anyone knows what ship Kirk is holding when Pike is trying to recruit him. Is it the Kelvin? I think it was metal too. Anyone remember?

I read somewhere it's a salt shaker. When I saw the film I just thought it was dirty...

I think it is the kelvin it has a screw where the nacell would go, maybe got broke in the fight, you can see the salt pouring out when he tips it

In Imax you can see the salt fall out of it when he turns it over. Not sure if it was the Kelvin.

Salt Shaker... I think it even had a big "S" on the saucer section as well.

Yup, Looked like a busted Kelvin with a bunch of holes in the shape of a "S" on the primary hull.

Even with the busted off top section, I figured it was the Kelvin when I saw it.

Yeah, it was the Kelvin, in salt shaker form. I'd totally be down for a selt and pepper set if a company were to produce them. Enterprise for the pepper?

Or maybe it was sugar inside...

I just saw this one last night and was looking for it to show up... to me it didn't look like the kelvin. Looked like there was a fin on the bottom of the dish, wasn't there a nacelle on the bottom of the kelvin?

The fin had a screw coming out of it where the nacel broke off

boy - you'd think I'd have caught that on the IMAX screen... seriously though, I sat through that entire movie with a huge grin on my face!

Yes, it is the Kelvin, or at least a ship the same class as the Kelvin, missing the nacelle (broken off in the bar fight), and yes, it is a salt shaker. Holes in the shape of an "S" are in the top - front of the saucer. I didn't see the movie in IMAX, but could still see salt coming out of it as Kirk turned it over. (For nitpickers, OK, I saw a white, salt-like substance coming out of it! )
