I've been trying to recreate this thing and while I figured out what all the pieces are, or pieces that are close enough for me, I was wondering if anyone knew want the valve on the end of the tank really was?

I can't say I know what the item actually is, but I always thought these props were a plumbers dream to make.:)

It is good to know, that in the 23rd century, one-inch, cast iron couplers and elbow joints from Ace Hardware will still be available.

On alien worlds.

:)

My daddy said there would always be a need for plumbers. Paintball must still be alive and well too.

And people complain about barcode scanners on the bridge!

:p

It's still a pretty cool looking prop though, and the build is awesome.

Thanks.

I have looked for hours Goggle searching for that valve or fitting that is on that end of that tank. Air, water, propane, oxygen, acetylene, and I can't find it. So, I made that one from a PVC cross fitting. One day I'll stumble across what that is.

I know that it was supposed to look like a weapon that someone could make out of things they found and it probably was made from items from a scrapyard. LOL

Could it be a small home fire extinguisher? Perhaps that is the valve and nozzel assembly from one of those.

Are you talking about the + connector right in front of the tank?
Look in the plumbing section of Home Depot in the lawn irrigation section. Its sometimes separate from the regular plumbing stuff. Specifically what you are looking for is PVC Schedule 40 Crosses.

Hope this helps.

No that is what I made mine from. I used 3/4" PVC cross but it's not right just what I could find. What the guys used back in (88?) probably isn't even made anymore. LOL Thanks to the power of BluRay I am working on one that is way closer from a copper T and some 1/2" copper tubing.

There were two versions of the rifle (thanks again BluRay) and this is the test fitting of my new valve which is a bit closer, but sort of a combo of the two. I just noticed that I'm holding it upside down. LOL Oh well it's a test fitting nothing is glued together yet. I need a thinner piece of plastic as well and to shorten the front some.

That resembles some type of PRV (Pressure Relief Valve). Look like you are coming along nicely with recreating it however.

Well with a new handmade valve, I'm pushing ahead on a second one. I made the slider piece on the top from a piece of tubing I stole out of a low voltage driveway light package I had on a shelf. The first one was two pieces of PVC pipe drilled out and glued together. The straps holding the tank on are plumbers strap (again) and two rubber friendship bracelets (the first one had pull down straps but they seemed to thick). Now I have to find two more bracelets.

Dude, that turned out SWEET!!!!! Very nice job.

I really love that display stand too!!!

That looks sweet!

When you were looking for valves did you look at propane tank valves, like the ones used on grill tanks?
