Star Trek TOS Phaser Holster

Hi all,

Trying to search for alternative holsters for an Art Asylum Star Trek phaser with no luck. I had an 8w laser built into the phaser and want to keep it in a pressure fit holster, no so much a leather one, nor velcro like the show.

I may experiment and make my own out of Klydex, but wanted to check here and see if anyone's made their own? Any advice on making one from thermal plastic?

Seen this pop up on google and would like to make something similar or for fitted to the phaser.

Yea, i've seen some great leather holsters for phasers, but i like the modular hardshell holsters.

Def don't want to go the velcro route lol

I've only had a little experience with thermal plastic but from what little I've done I can tell you'll want a solid phaser prop if you want a molded Kydex holster in the same style as modern pistol holsters. Personally, I'd go for a skeletonized holster like they used for the blasters from the BSG reboot. Going that route would mean that you can simply bend and hand press the Kydex over the phaser and not have to apply lots of pressure and risk crushing the prop in the process. Something like this

I'm more of a 'build a pop-out clip into the phaser' kind of guy, but you could always do something sorta like Discovery.

The whole Velcro idea in TOS was ridiculous.

They wanted something that looked futuristic even if it was ridiculous but at least they learned their lesson and used holsters for TNG and beyond.
