While I like all the Star Trek series, I'm ultimately a TOS geek. That show just had the magic...
I thought I'd take a shot a creating more of an art-style sculpt of the Enterprise rather than just a straight replica.
The build took about three weeks - the stand took almost as long as the ship and I created 2 prior versions that I discarded (they just didn't look right).
The sculpt is about 18" long and, coincidentally, about 18" tall when on the stand.
The lines on the saucer are etched in with a razor.
The final version will have a small transparent dome under the saucer.
It is way more difficult to line up the saucer and nacelles than I thought it would be.
There is more detail on the nacelles than shows in the pictures.
The sensor dish on the front is tiny -not easy to craft from pine.
I'm really pleased with the detail on the front of the body -lots of time with a dremel and sandpaper.
