Star Trek TNG Dustbuster - my first build

I just joined the forum today and I'm happy to be here. I've been lurking for a few weeks and luckily open registration came along pretty quick. I thought I'd share a few pics or my Rod.com Dustbuster phaser kit that I built. This is my first prop build...ever, and I had zero experience.

Here's what I started with.

Great Job!

Welcome to the board and leave your wallet at the door! ;)

First prop build? FOOLED ME! That looks terrific.

Gotta agree with Apollo. Best to hand over your assets to someone else to guard while you peruse this site.:lol

Thanks to everyone for the positive feedback and the warm welcomes. I really enjoyed this build and I'm definitely going to do another soon.

I know what you guys mean. I think the idea of spare cash will be going to wayside for a very long time.

Welcome aboard -E-!

You definitely have a knack for prop building. Nice job. Now it just needs a nice set of electronics. :rolleyes

Gerry :cool

Thanks for all the compliments, guys! They're keeping me motivated to start another build!

I'm thinking of doing another Dustbuster kit. I'd like to add lights and sound effects but have zero experience with that. I wouldn't even know where to start. I guess the easiest thing to do would be to migrate the electronics from a Playmates phaser over to the dustbuster kit. Is this something a newb with no experience could handle?
