I did this modification to a PLAYMATES Basic TRICORDER some time ago (years), and it is still working as it was designed, even today.
I refer to it as the Voyager "slant nose" version...
I know it is just a Playmates, but it was a fun project to tackle, to see how much I could do in a small package....
Not trying to compete against the real deal.

Working sound FX with buttons and natural "opening and closing" clicking effect.
As far as I know, this truly is unique, one of a kind modification with all the bells and whistles.
This was done about 15 yrs ago, in my prime.
No 3D printer at that time, used old school methods and styrene sheet.
