Star Trek: Playmates regular TRICORDER - Highly modified with some unique stuff :)

I did this modification to a PLAYMATES Basic TRICORDER some time ago (years), and it is still working as it was designed, even today.

I refer to it as the Voyager "slant nose" version...
I know it is just a Playmates, but it was a fun project to tackle, to see how much I could do in a small package....
Not trying to compete against the real deal.

Working sound FX with buttons and natural "opening and closing" clicking effect.
As far as I know, this truly is unique, one of a kind modification with all the bells and whistles.

This was done about 15 yrs ago, in my prime.
No 3D printer at that time, used old school methods and styrene sheet.

The main purpose of this PLAYMATES Toy modification was to show other possibilities and not to compete with the "real deal".

This is technically the FC/DS9 version as you've got the red LED scanning bar on the front, whereas Voyager's Tricorders had yellow LEDs. Regardless of that minor naming detail, it's a neat modification. Nicely done.

This is the best playmate tricorder upgrade I've ever seen, bar none! Excellent work. I love that you converted it to the newer First Contact tricorder.

That’s an amazing toy transformation. I would also be interested to know how the ratchet works and how did you manage to integrate it into those small plastic hinges? That looks quite different to the Mk 6 ratchet shown in this video:

I should have mentioned this in the opening post that there is no intentions to sell or to reproduce this prototype.
It wasn't easy back then for me to create it and even less so 15 yrs. later.
