Star Trek Picard Season Three

I guess Shaw was portrayed as the villain when he initially refused to help Picard and Riker, but I do like how the viewer looks upon him now with redemption. Brilliant actor. Not everyone could handle that.

We know from Voyager that Holodeck power is incompatible.

The fact his name is Shaw, same as Robert Shaw AKA Captain Quint, isn't a coincidence. If you are going to steal, steal from the best. Even had him hopped up on painkillers to parallel Quint being drunk. That doesn't impact my enjoyment, it's a great scene.
Yes that’s what I played right after the show. The Indianapolis scene from Jaws. Nailed it.

Who writes this show?
Setting aside the infantile name given to this alleged substance, if it was that simple to find a Changeling then they are hardly a threat. In a time of war, every starship's sensors could be callibrated to scan for these signatures or anything closely resembling it and the Changeling would be found in minutes.
Also on this subject, aside from being a nostalgia reference, the Changeling having a bucket identical to Odo's makes no sense.
Seems like nostalgia is a substitute for logic.

Like any other species then. One would hope they improved the bio sensors in the last 30 years to scan for changelings.

You would think so. But then the writers wouldn't be able to work in their contrived storyline if they had to consider even the most logical things that every fan would instantly think of.
I just don't see why some people (mainly those early access Youtubers) are fawning over this series when the problems that have been a hallmark of JJ and Kurtzman are still clearly there.

RM… how many times have we talked about using logic in a Nu-Trek discussion thread?

If all you had to do was scan for Changeling "residue" there would never have been a problem with infiltrators, no blood tests or phaser sweeps needed. Again NuTrek trying to retcon Star Trek but this time DS9 is in its sights.
But hey, don't worry about logic, here's a nostalgia reference, it's the wallpaper on the crumbling ruin of NuTrek writing.

It's not a retcon to have advanced the technology.

We’ve never seen residual ooz before. In fact, we’ve seen Changelings pull all separated bits back into themselves as the constitute into a solid form.

Residue, maybe. That a sensor can detect a sample of it, not at all.
Sensors have always been capable of detecting a myriad of things. Even back during the DS9 years Bashir knew that Odo and his people had a morphogenic matrix. This residue angle they've gone with is a retcon and has created a plothole.
