Star Trek Nemesis style padds

Ok, so I just aquired a bunch of these various sized panels that were used on Star Trek as light up padds. My question is should I make each one different or should I make them as they were seen in Nemesis, meaning recreating the graphics and paint schemes.

Picard using the larger padd, shown from the back.

a screen grab of the same padd showing the front of the larger padd, also note the smaller 4 x 5 padds in this picture.

one of the large "blank" panels I haven't started on yet, and one of the finished 4 x 5 panels I've completed.

A stand alone picture of the larger panel.

Let me know what you guys think and your opinion of what I should do with them.

Heck, I think your first order of business is to tell us where you found that large light box, and what the model number is on it! HAH!

but in answer to your question, I'd make them just as they were seen on screen. But that's just me.

As long as you have the butane torch to use as a stylus, I guess you can do whatever you want. :lol

I'm torn on my own PADD adaptation... the same lightbox was used as a padd in the TNG movies and also Enterprise. My challenge is to determine which version of Star Trek I hate the least, so I can make a PADD. :unsure

yeah i have a couple of the butane torches as well. the smaller panel was used in enterprise as their primary padd, however i don't recall seeing the larger version on enterprise.

I've made several enterprise padds using the smaller 4 x 5, but this was the first atempt at a TNG version.

The large one used is a CL-5000M by Cabin...Kev :cool

My personal 2 cents - - if you're making them to keep for yourself then make whatever you want! Maybe a screen accurate one and a few customs.
If you're making them to sell then... If they're easy to buy more of then do whatever you want. If they're hard to find I would make them screen accurate. Might get you a better price than a custom.
Just my thoughts...

true only the 4 x 5 light plate can run off batteries, thats why when picard is holding the larger M padd you only see it from the back as it wouldn't light up without the 110v power cord. Thanks for the input on what to do with these, I think i'll make one for myself and make one to sell.

Oh and cabin has since went out of business, there is another company that make a similar product i'll see if i can dig up their website and post a link to it here.

What I did to make them look a little more real, was to pull the glass out, take out the defuess paper and add tint to the inner side of the glass. I then put the graphic behind the tint. When the padd is off the screen is black, when you turn it on the padd lights up..Kev :cool

I just got the "L" models in and they are a bit bigger then the "M" and after seeing Andreas post where they are used in Enterprise, its easy to see that the "L" panel was the one T'Pol is using. however, there seems to be a little add on piece at the top. There is an insert for a isoliner chip that isn't present on the actual light panel.

Hey is it still possible to buy these light panels? are they expensive? I read they discontinued the brand. But someone said another company does one thats very similair. I'd love to have a go at this.

They are incredibly hard to find and very expensive, thye sometimes pop up on the bay, the small ones go for like 300

I've got one of the smaller ones, even have the AC adapter. I've not done anything with it for the last several years. I just sold a static small Cabin light box and will likely be selling the working version. It has a custom cut clear replacement screen. The originals are frosted and if you put the graphic transparency behind the plexi your images will be faded and slightly out of focus.
