Star Trek Into Darkness (Pre-release)

We were having this discussion on another forum and I know we have discussed it earlier in this thread, but I'm fairly certain that the ship crashing into San Fran is not the Enterprise. Similar design, but it looks funky. The nacelles and everything look more like this ship, you can see Kirk space diving towards.

Seems likely to me. I can't see them actually destroying the Enterprise in the second film. Refit due to damage? Sure. but not kill it completely.

New image released. Looks like a photon torpedo.

..or the Genesis torpedo!

Maybe a little early in the timeline for that. :lol

However, if that's just a standard torpedo it's pretty overdone IMO. One would think it should be a simpler design. Who knows, maybe it's an early Genesis experiment.

I thought it was a photon torpedo because of the "Photo93" on the side. And since they never showed photon torpedoes on TOS, I can buy this.

That's what I thought as well. But ya never know seeing as we know the future of Dr. Marcus. (Or do we? Altered timeline and all...)

IIRC the first time we saw a torpedo was TWOK. My thought process is that if you're designing something to blow up you don't make the casing all fancy like that. Minor beef though.

Hmm...

*studies the disruptor*

No apparent barrel rotation, classic TOS elements. Not a bad take on a classic design. I even think the blades are a nice touch.
