Star Trek Into Darkness (Post-release)

No it doesn't. ;)

Why does Lazenby remember Connery's missions? Why does Connery seek vengeance on Blofeld? Why does Moore lay flowers at Tracy's grave? Why does Dalton refer to Tracy at Felix's wedding? Why does Craig's family home have graves for his parents with the surname "Bond"?

Greetings,

You forgot David Niven, Peter Sellers and Woody Allen...but I don't want to derail anything here.

-Peace-

Clearly, because each subsequent Bond has been briefed on his predecessor's missions. And how do you know "Bond"'s parents weren't the previous agents assigned that identity?

Yeah, I know, but it's more fun than trying to make sense of six decades worth of inconsistencies. :D

Picard: The first duty of every Starfleet officer is to the truth, whether it's scientific truth or historical truth or personal truth! It is the guiding principle on which Starfleet is based! And if you can't find it within yourself to stand up and tell the truth about what happened, you don't deserve to wear that uniform!
I just want to butt in here to say that this was an incredible scene.

And as the last movie demonstrated, he was able to implement this equation into the Enterprise's transporters that enabled him to transport Kirk and Spock over to the Narada

iirc he used the transwarp equation to gt himself and kirk to the enterprise while they were in warp, not over to the narada.

This whole equation was not only Scotty's creation, he actually figured out what he was doing wrong in the last movie that prevented him from getting it to work.

Actually, Spock Prime gave the equation to Scotty in the last movie.

As for Star Trek, the reboot would have made more sense if they'd simply started over with the new cast and not made any references whatsoever to previously established canonical events or characters (except perhaps for generic mention of the various "alien" races--Klingons, Romulans, Andorians, etc.) or "altering the timeline". Introduce the new actors, put 'em on the Enterprise, send 'em on their way, and come up with new stories. Done. No need to explain why things are different, it's simply a new incarnation of the original series. Every other reboot has been done that way, why not Star Trek?

That is exactly why. To do something different from all the others. Some found it brilliant, such as myself, others found it aggravating. To each their own.

They're all "method" agents?

;)

Yes, but that wasn't my point. The point was that Scotty, thanks to Spock, understood how to finally get his equation working.

Spock Prime: Your equation for achieving transwarp beaming.
Scotty: *looks at equation* Imagine that. It never occurred to me to think of space as the thing that was moving.

If he now understands how to get his equation to work to the point where he can implement it into the Enterprise a few scenes later, how can you confiscate it from him if he can replicate the results?

Maybe transwarp equation was also a name for the equipment...meaning it could be taken??? I'm confused.

Scotty was able to use this equation into the Enterprise's Transporters during the assault on the Narada. The only way that Starfleet could take it away was to remove the transporter completely. Or is the film seriously suggesting that Starfleet went out of it's way to re-design every transporter device in every ship, station and planet so that it would never be able to use this equation at all? This equation was used to save the entire Federation. Whatever accidents that occurred due to use of this device could easily be worked out since this was 24th century technology being used with 23rd century components. You could evacuate whole planets with this technology, never having to worry about the distance or speed of either the source or destination. And since Starfleet will no longer be weaponized anymore, there should be no "Some hidden starfleet group wants to use it as a weapon" excuse anymore.
