Star Trek Into Darkness (Post-release)

But not the original intent.

You say his goal was vengeance, but it was vengeance against Marcus. He got that vengeance by killing Marcus. Then after he thought he lost his crew again and his ship was crippled he then sets the target to starfleet. Thats desperation more than revenge.

No, it was a desperate act to try to inflict as much damage as possible and go out in a perceived blaze of glory.

If it was anywhere else on earth besides san francisco he would have done the exact same thing.

he wasnt preoccupied about the enterprise or spock, to him the ship was dead and falling, he didnt need to worry about them anymore.

Even if we're going to say he did it out of revenge/vengeance...so what? That still doesn't mean that STID draws more from TWOK than Space Seed, which is the original point of contention. I've made my case as to why I believe it to be true. So as far as I'm concerned, we're done here.

Quitter... ;)

I enjoyed the film, but it took a lot from WROK. Point being, Karl Urban, during a recent interview spoke about where he would like the next film to go and his expectations. Even he said, very firmly, although he enjoyed filming STID, he really hopes whom ever directs the film, JJ or otherwise, that they bring in a strong sense of originality to the film. He stated he would love to be a part of a completely original film that does not take from any other film or series aside from those elements needed to maintain authenticity. I for one, agree.

I was just saying I agree with Urban in the fact that yes, it was a good film, however I would also like to see a completely original story now. They are on the 5 year mission now. Time to find new enemies and problems.

On a side note it has been rumored that making John Harris Khan was a last minute change. In some ways you could tell. I personally think if they would have left him as simply a new character like nero, I think a lot of fans that are upset about the film (not me) would have been a lot happier and perfectly fine with the film.

They are on the 5 year mission now.

And that means what exactly? They departed for deep space in the last movie to seek out new life and new civilizations, yet they still came back to Earth like their adventure was nothing more than a walk across the street. I think folks put too much faith in this team's ability to move forward.
