You made the blueprints for the grill?
Cool!
Thanks for providing them as they helped a lot. I had planned at the time to etch the grill then scratch build the comm, but never got around to finishing.

Thanks guys, i see what you're talking about from the drawings and the scale vs the Trek V walkie talkie, it's possible i could scale them up just a tad. It's going slow just waiting for materials.

Sorry to interupt your question, but I am excited to see how these turn out. The Trek III comm has always been one of my favorites and I am so happy to see these after YEARS of them being so elusive!

No worries, thanks for taking a look! Just waiting on sheet styrene to make the speaker box, and of course to test a way to secure the grill into one sturdy piece and still maintain the uniformity in the brass strips!

Yeah, that part certainly evaded me. I am happy to sit here comfortably and watch you build it. WAY over my head! :lol

You are making great progress so far.
The only way I see to keep everything straight while soldering would be to use placeholder strips in between the strips you wish to solder. These could be removed once everything is finished. A jig could be made from clamps or strong clothespins to hold the grill together while building. Everything could be silver soldered on the backside of the hinge pieces to keep the build clean. Hope this helps and makes sense.
