Star Trek: Equinox - New Fan Film

Hey I had a similar idea to create Star Trek Equinox but as a fan based TV series but based on a new USS Equinox after the destruction of the first one. So it's a brand new Star Ship Equinox Alpha with a brand new crew.

The plot would initially be just routines missions like TNG episodes as a proving ground before starting a big plot when the ship is deployed to the center of the galaxy where a borg quantum singularity junction point is found abandoned.

I have connections to some people who can build Star Trek bridges and sets only for a few thousand dollars. And got a ready supply of CGI artists and actors.

My connections span from England, USA, Australia to Poland.

I agree with the comment that a lot of fan based Trek are extremely embarassing and I am making it a point to do this trek based series professionally or not at all.

Hey all,

I'd forgotten all the great feedback/ideas/perspectives.

I also didn't realize how long it's been since the idea came and went.

A lot has happened, life's been kind of a s$&t show...but we're slowly sorting it all out.

I just wanted to pop in and say it looks like this project is back on...though nothing close to the original concept.

I was contaced when someone did a google search (star trek+Ottawa+fan film) and contacted me. The timing was perfect, we had suffered a loss and this has given me something to focus on while I sort things out in he background.

Anyway Andy had laid down a good portion of the ground work. It turns out we have the same creative vision. TNG style episodes, written with appropriate care in order to properly emulate the series...not just random sci if with the trek name slapped on.

We're looking at a new ship and a new crew. As far as style goes it will look and feel like TNG. No barrel rolls, no innapropriate humor, no shots that weren't used in the show, etc.

You want to make a Trek fanfilm? This is what you do.

You make a Star Trek episode. Not some vision you have of Star Trek.

Prologue, three acts, epilogue, use the same music, and the same effects.

If you can't clip something out of an episode make sure the effects you add LOOK like they came from an episode.

There you go, now go do it.

You make a Star Trek episode. Not some vision you have of Star Trek.

If you don't have a vision of what Star Trek is, how are you supposed to know what the real vision is? If you're going to say it's Gene's vision, well, his vision is about as consistent as The Amazing Spiderman movie being a genuine sequel to Barbarella.
