I don't know if this is why, but wouldn't years only be indicative of Earth? Every planet in the universe would have a different time calculating scenario, and their rotation around their sun would create different lengths of years. So a stardate could be a commonly agreed upon measurement used by Federation planets.
Years ago, when Paramount took ownership of Kings Dominion in Virginia they had a Trek shop at the park that sold Starfleet class rings. I'll have to see if I can find the one I bought. Anyone else get one of those?

the top is mathematically perfect despite the way it looks
milling the master now
will have pics of the wax up tonight after i get back from a party
the kings dominion or mine?
I will have to weigh the wax do some math
and calculate various metal weights
but roughly
70.00 for bronze looks like gold
or 90.00 for silver wearable
here is the wax
pretty raw need to ream it clean it invest it cast it
should have a metal ring to show by midweek
would you guys rather see it in silver or goldtone?
I'd rather see it is silver myself, but that is just me.
It looks pretty good in wax.
I am really looking forward to seeing one in metal.
Excellent work!
