***UPDATE***
The Communicator Badge is now FINALLY ready for ordering!

https://www.shapeways.com/product/WAB2FFP65/space-lord-communicator-badge?optionId=64300956

It took a lot longer than I expected, because getting the details exactly right on this has not been easy and I had to restart several times because I wasn't happy. And several times, I discovered a new detail that I hadn't seen before that had to be added. For such a small piece, it has a lot of things going on. For a while, I was also very unsure that it would be possible to bring this piece in at a cost that was even close to manageable.

NOTE: Make sure you get BOTH the plated and brass parts! Also, if anyone wants to get the base piece in Sterling Silver, I can add that option too, but it would cost quite a bit more.

Note#2: To would-be recasters, there IS a hidden "tell" in this piece.

I needed a medallion for my pocket watch chain, so I went and modeled up Star Lord's necklace pendants from Vol 2 and am offering them here. (I am also making the lapel badge communicator in metal... coming soon!)

The run is now OPEN.

Round pendant is available in "screen accurate" 2-piece steel+brass configuration for approx $65 OR as a slightly smaller (28mm and simplified) sterling silver version for approx $125. Scrap pendant is available in steel for approx $45 . Sizes have been matched to Star Lord's Walkman.

Order them directly from Sh*peways: https://www.shapeways.com/shops/faegorumgallery

IMPORTANT: When you order the "screen accurate" pendant, make sure to buy BOTH parts under "choose material". The two-piece will need a little bit of sanding/filing around the edge of the brass piece to fit really snug when you glue it. Also note that buyers in Europe have to pay VAT (but NO customs, since they are manufactured depending on location.) I have no control or say over the ordering process, but feel free to PM me if you have any issues.

Sterling Silver "simplified" version, weathered with a black wash and some transparent gold paint applied to the center.

Both versions, without weathering. Size is NOT to scale. Note that the accurate version is only available with a BRASS center, not bronze.

"Scrap" pendant (Photo is a brinze steel version, final version is plain steel because it's more accurate. Looks the same but less brown, haha.)

A metal one would be great!

That's the idea. There will be a couple different options. First a 1-piece "simplified" version that can be ordered in silver, and another more accurate version in two parts that can be done in steel+brass/bronze or silver+brass+bronze.

Here is the updated model for the 2-piece version that is megadeluxesupercalifragilisticexpialidociously accurate it's beyond screen accurate, more accurate that the real one, so accurate that it would blow the mind of Neil deGrasse Tyson and not even Stephen Hawking could find any inaccuracies even if it were teetering on the edge of a black hole sorry got carried away by the current trend please disregard it's totally not true if you can read this you have great eyesight cause I sure as hell can't a lot nicer than the first one. I also went and did the second "metal scrap" pendant. Next up is the lapel badge.

Re: Star Lord Vol 2 Pendants in SILVER, BRASS, BRONZE

I'll have my test copies of these on Wednesday hopefully. Provided they turn out the way they should, ordering will open up right away. Seeing the movie confirmed some things I had already put into the necklace pendants and the lapel pin. (I'll be having the first test made of the pin shortly as well. Might even split it into separate metals just like the round necklace.)

Bump for RUN IS GO. Please read the first post for ordering info.

And Volume 2 is probably THE most entertaining movie I have ever seen. It was beyond fantastic. I hope everyone that gets to see it in the US this weekend has a great time.

Re: Star Lord Vol 2 Pendants in METAL

A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who has gotten these so far.

Reminder: when ordering the screen accurate pendant, don't forget to get BOTH parts (brass and steel) under the "choose material" drop down menu on the right side of the ordering page.

neat cant wait to see the communicator!

Re: Star Lord Vol 2 Pendants in METAL

Just got my pendants in today - they are gorgeous! I do have a finishing question, though - what would you recommend using to adhere the core to the ring? I'm thinking jb weld would be enough, but is there a cleaner method?

Glad you like them!

JB weld should work, but I used a clear 2-part epoxy on mine. Carefully sand around the brass piece until you can press it in real tight. Then take it out, put a little bit of epoxy around it and press it back in. Wipe off any excess epoxy before it hardens. If you want the brass weathered, give it a wash of watered down black acrylic paint (or buy a ready mixed model wash that is black or dark brown.) If you have any glue visible, the wash will help hide it. The combination of glue and pressure should keep the brass piece in place.

Re: Star Lord Vol 2 Pendants in METAL

Sounds good, that's pretty much what I planned on doing. To make it easier for folks, maybe you could model in a ring on the back of the ring that the brass can rest on - would be easier to glue, then the brass insert could be put in from the front and rest on the ring/lip. Make sense?:)

That was my initial plan, but the tolerances in the casting wouldn't really allow it. The parts need a certain thickness to print reliably and they're already just barely within the limit. I actually had to do several revisions before the parts passed all the tests. I also didn't want to compromise more on screen accuracy than I absolutely had to.
