Just a quick update, I finally found the exact color of leather I was looking for, sorry for the phone pic, it's the exact same color you see in the photo of the back of the spats, which is the clearest pic of it. I'll have the first set ready early next week!

I was going to start making one for myself too, since I've got lots of spats from horse ridding equipment laying around. I got myself figured out on how to fabricate one for myself. I'm interested in one thing too, well you be able to afford the shoes with the back plate of the shoes just like these ones in here:




Added the determined sneaker shoes I've found out in other threads.

Hey everybody! I just got the leather prototype for the spats! I'll get better pics with better light but I just couldn't wait to show you. I watched the movie again and I'll make them darker and add a bit of detail but I'm really glad with the result. My guy ran out of silver accesories so he made a couple out of brass, I photoshoped them all to look the same. What do you guys think?

Right now I'm just making the spats, but you can find the shoes at Amazon for a decent price and just modify them to fit with your spats.

Hey Danny..are you not going for accuracy? The pics of the real boot spats have the leather straps on the back going into a button stud and not strapped together around the back. Just wondering if your changing this at all?

As I specify in the first post, I'm making the straps long enough so they can be adjusted for those who won't be making a custom made boot for the spats, so you can just wear them over your pants. If you are making the boots however, the straps can be easily cut to fit your boot and, since they already have the metal bolts and rings, you'll get that screen accurate look.
