On Ebay there is a seller of "RTgs Micro LED Red Lights". They are a good setup for this application. Everything is prewired, and the string is 20 LED's long. These run on 3 AA batteries, but I have had success without adjusting the current limiting resister, of running a single 6V 28L battery for the string. The LED's are tiny, and easy to work with, and the wire is extremely thin, making it easy to sort out around the eyes. The LED radiation pattern is very wide, and may need covering the back of them to prevent them from shining directly back at the eyes though.

This makes for the option of cutting off 4 LED's on the string and doing 8 LED's/eye with on single 6V battery that's a little shorter than half a AA, or running 12 LED's/eye on two cut down strings, and running the two batteries. The latter may involve changing the current limiting resister.

Anyway, I saw that you were looking into ideas for the LED's, and I thought I'd share what I found thus far. I hope it helps and can't wait to get a hold of my bucket. :)

OK so I have been working on this some more.. I'm hoping to mold it up this weekend..unless some catastrophic event happens :) I have all the supplies and the master is a few hours from being ready to start the process..so pics for everyone. And it will be a 2 piece helmet, its just taped together for photos. The "fuses" on the side and the pipes will be separate pieces... enjoy :p

Looks great dude. I know how much of a pain in the ass this helmet has been!

I'm working on an accessories kit that will include:

- Straps and hooks to hold the helmet to your head
- Velcro to hold the back of the helmet to the front
- Eye rings (for the inside of the eyes)
- Red LEDs
- Battery connector
- Switch & switch mount
- Wiring

I'll have a price and some pics soon!

let us know asap.....can wait......4 weeks till Halloween.....by the way....I knew it was worth the wait by these pics.....P.S. the eyes are going to be cut out or do we do that ourselves?.....

Yes I know when Halloween is... by the way :) ... I said I'm going to try to get the first run out before then....
And the helmet will come raw cast rough trim..so the eyes will need to be cut out.... unless you are getting finishing work done by me.

Great news! Everything looks great! So I'm assuming you guys scrapped the idea of using magnets to secure the two parts of the helmet together?

We are still deciding what would be best. But these helmets come raw cast. Securing them together will be up to everyone who buys them. We may have a kit available if we figure out a better way than magnets. :)

Agreed, and if you use big enough magnets I think you'd be fine. The thought of velcro is that if the back is coming loose, at least you'd hear the velcro and that would give you time to react :eek
