I didn't make it into the run... :-( But for what it's worth, I'd be interested too. I sent a PM a while back right after the run was closed, but just in case you are thinking of doing another one, I wanted to put my name forward! Great job!

OK so I figured I would update the thread, been working on the helmet this weekend..
Got all the little bits and printed some stuff off to make the rest.. so its getting closer. I'm hoping to finish this up before the weekend

I think you misunderstood. Finished the master by then. This won't be molded by then. Stil lots of work after it's mastered.

Oh no, I understand. I honestly wasn't expecting the master to be finished and the molding to start till the end of the month, that's what I meant!

I'm neither a fan of this film nor of this particular helmet design. But once again this is seriously awesome.
Amazing job all around on an extremely difficult piece.

That is looking fantastic.
One question... how hard will it be to remove the side hoses in case we wanted to try to add real braided hose? I guess what I'm really asking is if those hoses will be separate parts of a kit or actually part of the final cast helmet?

Not sure yet. But why would you want to add real hoses when I'm casting braided hoses for the side hoses?

OCD mostly I guess. But it could also be that the less I have to try to paint to look real the better? It's no big deal really, I was just curious.

Ok well I guess I'll figure that out this week the more pieces I need to cast/make the more work for me....so guess how that's probably gonna go

I will chime in that I totally get justanothercap's point, in the case, say, of bright chrome braided hose. It would be pretty easy to cut and install short pieces (if the kit was set up that way) as opposed to painting resin to look like chrome braided hose. Your point is totally valid, as well, that the fewer pieces the fewer molds, etc.

We're working on the magnets to join the 2 pieces, if anyone has had some close up looks at the real one, or has any ideas, please share. We've got some elastic strapping to hold the front piece to your head, then the plan is the back piece magnets to the front...
We're also working on assembling an add-on kit that will light the eyes up like the original prop...
