There are no existing templates for this armor so I was wondering the best way to approach this. I was planning to use foam, seem sto be the easiest material to work with, at least starting with, maybe upgrading it to something else after I get the armor built.

Any ideas on how to best tackle this project?

I have zero ideas to help you, so sorry for that. But I am super excited you are looking to build this so please don't give it up. I thought I was alone in liking that uniform.

For the armor you could start by tracing out a general shape and cut it from foam. It may be easier to work it layers and glue them together like a pepakura file. and if all looks right, then just transfer it to foam.

I did a free hand Iron Man MK3 Space armour from the comics this last summer and I find the best way to do it is simply reference the piece your building draw out what you feel the shape is trace it to either card or brown bag paper, test it against yourself (or other parts if its raised such as the shoulders) then try again. do it three times or so then pick the one that fits best and move on to the next piece. its slow work but better then making a foam piece gluing it on then finidng it doesnt fit!

I do believe that this will involve a little bit of trial and error until I can get the pieces just right.

I had a thought of get some good pictures of starlord and blow them up to make the bigger (about my size) and the that might help in creating the individual armor pieces.
