The best I can do is show you a before and after. I wish I took a photo of the process, but I will try and explain. After the cockpit tube was securely glued in I used plain paper to test fit the gap. After I had a perfect master out of paper I then traced it onto styrene and cut two copies, one to fill the gap and one to continue the armor plating on top of the 1st piece. Obviously the piece for the armor had to be cut again so the armor lines were seamless. After I glued it all together I then filled all gaps with gap filler and sanded. I started with a heavier sandpaper and worked my way down to a very fine one. I repeated this process a couple of times until the pieces felt smooth to the touch and looked seamless. Hopefully this makes sense. Other guys on the RPF might have better methods, I just think of it as I go.
