SS Y-Wing Yea the one no one wants to make?

3D Builder, what an incredible build and I am so glad I read all 5 pages. At least now so many questions and ideas I had about what is actually possible with Vac Forming have been answered.

How many Vac Forms have you got? I guess making really small ones make for economical forming.

Mr. Jamster-man,
You are the Jedi master of vac-former, no doubt. :eek

Have you ever, or if not, could you make some instructional videos on vac-forming because you seem to have excellent equipment and just fantastic results.

Or at least point a novice in the right direction as far as making my own equipment is concerned. Video if possible, then i can watch and build at the same time, + i'm just to lazy to read

:cheers

Cheers Mate

Thanks guys much appreciated....:thumbsup

Figuring out the wing and getting it in there.....
and then some supports in the neck to run some
sort of tube for fiber and wire coming out of the cockpit.

:lol Thanks guys I started over on this again ....:thumbsdown

Junked the main body parts have to make new ones.....it was
just all wrong but did salvage the cockpit.....it was over sized
enough to tweak it into something close.

Wasn't going to post pics getting a little gun shy about
starting over but hey it me.....I am pretty shameless .....
Al .......you better not say a word!:behave:lol

So this is what I was able to salvage and reshape as
far as the cockpit...canopy needs to be reshaped.
001.jpg

Then I have a canopy with a big ass gap issue!:lol
So I put some aluminum foil over the part and decided
to gap it with some clay.
003.jpg

Mashing out the extra clay...
004.jpg

Trimming away the extra clay...
006.jpg

Gap gone.... It's probably gonna be to high now
thats ok I can take it off the top.
012.jpg

Peeling away the aluminum foil.......nice and smooth
010.jpg

I went ahead and vacuum formed the cockpit......

Trimming away the sides and back.....
008.jpg

009.jpg

I made the cockpit a little longer so I
could cut it back to get the curve at
the front.
015.jpg

So that's it for now.....gonna get the canopy done and mounted
then I will do the panel lines and then add the sides and back section.

Really looking forward to seeing this one complete. Looks like it's coming along nicely so far.
