Hey folks,

this just caught my eye, and I must admit, boy am I out of the loop when it comes to merchandising!

Star Wars Probe Droid Statue Sculpture - Attakus - Star Wars - Statues at Entertainment Earth

Is that Probe Droid in Studio Scale? I am not sure, I too often have to rely on hints from members whether something belongs in this forum or not, and now I am totally lost. It does look like it´s SS, but I am not sure with it being 16.5 inches high ?

I missed out three years ago on the SS PD run :cry but I remember how huge it was in comparison to a cola can. No cola can in that pic on the EE website, though, so...

Re: SS Probe Droid from Sideshow?

I'm almost to the point of showing off my own SS Probe droid prototype. I'm hoping to have photos just after the first of the year. Its gonna be quite upgraded from the run you missed out on. :)

Re: SS Probe Droid from Sideshow?

The Attakus isnt SS buddy no. Dave, cant wait buddy, im re working much of my V1 kit very soon, not going as far as curvatures etc, just maybe 99% of the kit parts will be replaced though.
Damn i love the probe droid.

Re: SS Probe Droid from Sideshow?

I always wanted one but man,
I don't understand why a probe droid has to be so expensive.
There are other statue/diorama's that are larger and more complex that are half the price.

Re: SS Probe Droid from Sideshow?

Personally, i think its "because" its the Probe Droid...its never really been done, apart from the tiny resin kit, the SMT thats now well OOP, and the OOP and costly NiceN......theres nothing else out there....which TBH, is a shame, its a prop thats been really ignored.

Yeah, maybe they figure it's got a cult following and can get people that will pay.

Hopefully something will eventually come along I can afford for what it is.

Yeah that Attakus one is definitely not Studio Scale. Sounds rather expensive for the size too.

Agreed Dave, thats more than Steves SS kit was way back, and not much bigger than the SMT, typical SW licence wallet reaming :lol

Yeah, but look at the size, that's the SS model. They made 2 models for ESB. One SS scale and one full size model for the chewie and han shoot out scene. SS model is a good bit bigger than 16".

so Dave, there will be another chance to get this for us who missed the old run?

Thats the best news I heard for a while ;)

I found someone selling a damaged one for less then half price of a new one so I jumped on it. Exactly the kind of deal I was hoping to find.
I have to construct a replacement antenna and repair some small broken and chipped areas that are thankfully up and underneath out of sight.
I think the whole thing took a bit of a tumble once, as the body lifts right off the three "legs", but overall it's still in good shape and I can repair it.
It's really big and has a nice evil presence in person.
Great bit of Sci Fi hardware.

I think i like the look of the Attakus over the SMT, the SMT just doesnt look right at all, but the Attakus is way over priced IMO, bought my SS droid for the price of an Attakus, then again, i did inject another wad of money at it to put it right lol.

The SMT build was a mess actually to be perfectly honest. the resin was brittle and the legs all fell apart during the build. Mine ended up even LESS studio accurate as my kit came with NO bottom plate where the legs needed to be attached to so i whipped up a very cool looking but very non accurate Probot. But the paint and weathering on mine looks better than the attakus. I wish i had the SS of that.

Had to make a replacement antenna.
Just used stuff I had on hand already...some acrylic rod and some bare metal foil rolled around the end to make the little nubby at the tip and some metalizer paint on hand that was close enough color match. The rest of the damage was minmal stuff, chipped leg mounts on the bottom I will fuss with, the arm struts needed to be bent straight and a few glued back into place, a few other small details but it is fully displayable as is.

Where's the front on this??? LOL

The front? Its at the back, yeah, round a bit more...... :lol. Well, if ever a licenced product needed a repaint...looks like something from T2.

Seriously, id have to cut off my hand not to repaint that lol, but it still trounces the SMT for a non studio scale model, the SMT is so off in proportions, may as well be a potato peeler.

...

Reminds me of that Billy Crystal/Robert DeNiro movie "Analyze this" "Hey, nice suit. What´s it made out of, chrome?" :lol So, that Probe Droid already got a job offer as a consigliere?

Seriously, great find, nice repair work!

It's on the silvery side to be sure, the flash didn't help.
Against a white background it looks darker of course.

Stole this pic to illustrate...

Of course the film it was always with a white background so curious if there are good pics of the studio model and full size.
